There are so many of you out there making Girasoles with our KAL and I wish I could invite everyone to a Sit & Knit one night to work on them! (Never mind that we couldn’t contain all of the KALers here at Loopy Central if you all came on the same night. This is just me, thinking wishfully wishfully thinking contemplating how fun it would be.) See this little circle? It’s the start of Knitting Daughter’s KAL. She and Elf Donna talked themselves into making one and I’m really happy about that. Donna is using Cascade 220 and KD is using Cascade Heritage. KD has knit plenty of socks and scarves, but this is her first lace project and her first chart-reading project. I think being a Loopy Elf for the summer is getting to her….
Thanks for weighing in (snicker) on Brownie Batter Blizzards. I’m glad that it’s a limited edition flavor and that it will be going away soon. I have a better option for all of us. Remember when I blogged about Marlon and her amazing knitted pastries back in February? As soon as I saw them, I was trying to figure out how to get some, as they are just too cute. I told her that she really ought to set up an Etsy shop so that I could buy
some other people could enjoy her beautiful work, too. And she did! As soon as she opened, I hopped over there and bought these two – the Fruit Tart and the Chocolate Strawberry Cake. They arrived in a cute package, and got here lickety split (when you consider that she shipped them from Amsterdam). I thought that I’d set them out on display in our kitchen at Loopy Central, but I have kind of been enjoying them in
my office for too long, now. I don’t want to give them up. (Check out the latest pastries in her shop. The whipped cream cracks me up! And the Poached Pear in Wine Sauce? Rhubarb Pie? Carrot Cake? sigh.) She plans to continue to add a few new ones in most every week, so bookmark it and keep an eye on things there.
My contest question for you this month: If you were knitting up your favorite dessert, what would you be knitting? (Not a fan of desserts? What other food item do you think would be fun to see knit up?) Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll draw for the winners next week. Since Marlon used Wollmeise Rhubarb in her Rhubarb Pie, I think we’ll use Wollmeise yarn for the prize in the contest. That seems fair.

I would knit up cheesecake. It might be boring to look at as a knitted item, but it’s my favorite desert, so… and it might persuade the hubby to make me some!!
uummm…..I would knit a Chocolate Gateau..but since it would be all one color, tah would not hold my interest too long so….a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie!!!! the colors would be fabulous.
Now I’m going to make that gateau tee hee…..and we had the pie last week…oh, Sheri…that was to die for and the kids…unfortunately…ate the last piece.
Luckayyyyy….you have daughter working with you WHAAAAA mine leaves for CA tomorrow for summer research (we are in MI) WHAAAAAA I miss her! (ok…anticipating those feelings already)
I would knit a slice of cherry pie or a piece of chocolate cake. Yay to KD & Elf Donna for joining the KAL. Still on the baseball trip but coming home today 🙂
Banana bread for me…with powdered sugar on top
This might be a boring knit, but my favorite sweet is fudge and coming in a close second is white wedding cake with thick frosting. I had gastric bypass surgery three months ago, so the knitted dessert is all I will be looking forward to.
Turtle Cheesecake – for sure… yum!!!! Love that stuff – wish it wasn’t so expensive, so I could buy it more! 😉
I think I would be knitting a Cherry-Cream Cheese Pizza. 🙂
Do I have to pick just one!! Anything chocolate, but right now with the temperature topping out at 99 degrees, I’d say double chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate M&M’s with a little fudge sauce drizzled on top!!
Lemon Squares!
cupcakes!
My favorite dessert, Strawberries on angel food cake, with LOTS of whipped cream of course.
I know this is supposed to be about sweet desserts, but sometimes I prefer pizza to dessert. I’d love to see a pizza with pepperoni, oliives, mushrooms, onions, tomato slices. It all looks great though.
Chocolate chip cookies, hot fudge sundae, fig newtons, softie chocolate cone, and Mary’s chocolate cake.
Chocolate cake with strawberries between the layers and on top. Yum. Or Key Lime Pie.
Huckleberry pie.
The Midwesterner in me yearns for Gooey Butter Cake!
It is local strawberry season here and I am loving it! Who says that Strawberry Shortcake cannot be the main course for dinner with more for dessert! I would knit a bowl of fresh strawberries!
mmm…how does one knit a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie, with an iced coffee on the side? There must be a way!
I considered crocheting a wedding cake because there are some lovely patterns out there. I could crochet the cake for my wedding, and then have it forever!
I regularly knit up cupcakes as quick little birthday gifts, but I would probably knit up some cheesecake for myself. mmMMMmm cheesecake…
If I was going to knit up a dessert, it would be my favorite one, Dark Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake! Yum!
I would like to see cannoli knitted up the most, but there are plenty of desserts I love and wouldn’t mind seeing knitted up.
How about a cheescake smothered with blueberries and strawberries? Of course anything in chocolate would work for me.
I would love to knit a bowl of cherries.
Strawberry shortcake!
Hmmm, edible and wool just don’t seem to go together for me. If it’s food, I want to eat it, and if it’s wool, I want to wear it 😀
I had the most delicious oreo cookie cheesecake this weekend — lots and lots of chunks of oreos. The knitted version would save those calories!
I would have to knit a version of my Grandmother’s French Coconut Pie! Yum!
Mmmm. It’d be a dense brownie with really thick icing. Except that that really wouldn’t be all that impressive in terms of knitting….
Second choice? Strawberry Meringue Torte – three layers of meringue-y, strawberry-y, whipped cream-y goodness.
Yum 🙂
Creme Brulee!!! yum!
Turtle Cake, yum!
If there was a way to knit creme brulee, that’s what I’d knit. I would just worry about how the blowtorch would affect the knitting… 🙂
strawberry shortcake, hands down!
I’d definitely knit up (or crochet) an ice cream cone! I looooove ice cream most of all.
I’d love to have knitted lemon meringue pies, cherry cheese cake or peach pie!
Hmm, I’d be knitting either creme brulee, or something with dark chocolate and almonds…
mmmmmm…. I feel like I’ve been gaining weight just reading all of these ideas…
Creme Brulee, hands down. Yum.
Tough question! I mean, chocolate cake is always a winner. Mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate ganache sauce, too.
However, for sentimental reasons, as well as taste, I’d have to say my mother’s (and grandmother’s) Armenian rice pudding. Lovely, light (no eggs, just milk, water, rice, sugar, and cinnamon) and it feels like a connection to my past as well.
A challenge, to be sure, but I bet someone could figure out how to do it!
As a nutritionist, my friends would expect me to say blueberries. Yes, my mother-in-law has even put a candle in a bowl of blueberries for me on my birthday.
But let’s get real. Bananas Foster all the way ,. . . . . YUM!
Although it’s not my favorite dessert I think knitting up a Boston Creme Pie or Lemon Meringue Pie would be fun. Maybe some mohair would get the fluffy look. Ice cream is my favorite dessert and I think knitting an ice cream cone would be fun, too, especially the waffle cone part!
I’d be knitting a cupcake!
How do you knit Creme Brulee? Yum. Slurp.
OK, something that could be knit – a Georgia peach. But, it must be a Georgia peach. No Texas, California, or other state’s peaches. Georgia peaches have rocked my world since my great grandmother introduced me to them as a mere child. If I can’t travel to Georgia to get summer peaches, I pay the exorbitantly high prices to have a case sent to Texas. Fresh peaches, frozen peach slices straight from the freezer, peach ice cream, peach cobbler, peach jam. Heaven!
I would knit up an entire ice cream parlor of flavors of ICE CREAM, but then I would fill myself up on all the flavors that contain chocolate, peanut butter, caramel, toffee, or any combo of those, and give all the fruit flavors to my dear husband! Thanks for asking.
Lemon meringue pie! Or maybe gummy bears. 😀
My favorites are: Strawberry cheesecake or banana pudding
Chocolate Lava Cake cut open so you can see the liquid chocolate oozing from the centre and we must not forget the vanilla ice cream on the side 🙂
Apple custard torte. Yum!
I’d like to see a great big banana split knit up – three flavors of ice cream, three kinds of sauce, blobs of whipped cream, and a cherry on top. And don’t forget the bananas! Now I want some ice cream, darn it!
