It seems like our space is shrinking. This place seemed so big when we first moved into Loopy Central. I thought we’d have plenty of room to grow for a long time into the future. Somewhere along the line, someone kept adding in more stock and a few more products here and there, and all of a sudden, the walls are shrinking. Or something. Here are a few of the boxes that have arrived so far this week. The UPS gal hasn’t been here today yet, and when she comes, I don’t know where she is going to put anything.
We need to unpack these and make room, don’t you think? (Or someone needs to stop ordering things.) And here’s what our front entry room looks like at the moment. Not nearly as nice and cute as when the boxes aren’t there. These are fun boxes, though, and they won’t be around for very long. They contain something that will be going into our Second Anniversary Celebration Kit – woohoo! More about that in a couple of weeks, when we hit August 1st. But back to the space problem – we have a solution. We’re knocking down some walls and expanding things around here. Didn’t you wonder where 240 different colorways of Cascade 220 would end up? We have a whole wall planned around it. We’re able to get the space next to us and once it’s all done, you’ll never know a wall was knocked down – or so they tell me. I’ll have to get a picture of Joe, the guy who does all of the work in this
building. He knocked down all of the walls that sub-divided Loopy Central before we moved in, and I have great confidence that he’ll make the addition look just as great. Target date for the new addition is August 15th, and we’ll keep you posted. We have so many fun things planned! (Note – UPS just left – 8 more boxes plus a box marked “perishable” and “haut chocolat” and “open immediately”. Like they needed to tell us that? Inside we found the most exotic sounding chocolate bars I have ever seen. Check them out. Our sweet friend Capi sent them to us – thank you, Capi!! As soon as this blog is posted, we’re having a chocolate tasting. That Bacon Chocolate bar will be first, because I can’t even imagine it. And then we’ll unpack all of the cases of yarn that have piled up this week…)
It has been a busy week already. The Wollmeise went up at 9 pm on Monday night and sold out in 5 minutes again. (4.8 minutes, for those of you who like precise numbers, and we had over 300 skeins of it this time.) I have no explanation for such craziness, (well I do – it’s beautiful yarn) and I know it’s frustrating for those who would like to get their hands on a skein of it. Remember to check Claudia’s site on Fridays, as that is when she does her updating a few times a month. (Not every Friday – just some Fridays.) She is working so hard to get as much done as she possibly can and she’s already working on another order for us. We’ll keep getting it, and we have a few changes in the works for the next Wollmeise update. The Barista colorway sold out first and Knitting Daughter thinks that is pretty great since Claudia did that one up in her honor! We will definitely have it again. Here is the photo of it if you didn’t get to see it.
We also put a lot of new things up last night and you need to check them out, if you haven’t already! We added in Hazel Knits (a new indie dyer for us), Noro Silk Garden Worsted, Fleece Artist Merino (some gorgeous semi-solids this time), Perchance to Knit, Spindle City, Indie Dyer, Opal Hundertwasser, Lorna’s Laces (more Franklin’s Panopticon, and we will also have it in the roving as soon as we can get that photo-ed), Spritely Goods Sidhe, Trekking, Jade Sapphire Silk/Cashmere, S.R.Kertzer On Your Toes Bamboo (wool free, SO soft), new colors from Colinette Jitterbug, Jade Sapphire Cashmere Scarf Kits (you will not believe how wonderful that cashmere feels), and Beanie Baggies.
I’ve been getting some “are you going to be getting this?” kinds of emails, so I thought I had better address them on the blog. I’ll answer all of those on Friday. (Some of the “are you getting this?” answers are in all of the boxes that have come in this week.) It will kind of update you on what we have coming in and a few things that we have planned. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a picture of Loopy taking a snooze. He found a delightfully comfortable bed, but I’m not sure that Gracie appreciates it at all …..

Ok I’ll leave a question for ya too π When is the next DiC Smooshy update coming??? I’ve been coveting the Butterpeeps for quite awhile and everytime I have some yarn funds it s gone π
Wish I had the space and funds to be getting yarn in by the box like that!!! My house would be full to overflowing, but with the insulating qualities of wool we wouldnt have to worry about running out of propane for heat!
Gracie: My moms cats really like having LittleLoopy around, one of them even thinks hes her kitten and takes good care of him π
I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one looking at the boxes and trying to see if they had labels on them. π Bacon chocolate sounds so wrong, but I bet it tastes really good.
Let us know about the bacon chocolate bars. You know Wendy has ordered something like that too!
Glad you are finding a way to make the space work for you. I look forward to hearing more about what’s coming on Friday. Although, I’m pretty sure I have plenty o’ yarn, lol. ; )
Wow…that’s a lot of boxes! Good luck with the redesign.
I’ll bet that bacon chocolate is cholesterol-free too! Your expansion is exciting news. I’ll be glad when my yarn diet is over so I can buy some of those things I keep moving to my cart. The Barista colorway is beautiful as are all of Claudia’s colors–thanks for sharing the picture.
Wow that is a lot of unpacking to do.
Bacon chocolate…. I don’ t know about that combination, you will have to let us know how that one tastes for sure,
Maybe the guy with the bag is on a yarn shop crawl.
Oh…Wow! Those boxes take up your entire entry way. I’d love to receive all those boxes…full of yarn and fun stuff of course. Congratulations on the expansion and your upcoming “2nd Anniversary”! Let us know how the bacon chocolate tastes.
I had the very same bacon chocolate bar. I shared mine with Ian and was lucky to get any of it because he loved it so much. It was delicious!
My daughter shared some of that bacon chocolate with me. I had my doubts, but it was surprisingly delicious, the salt with the sweet kind of thing. Savor it! Just placed an order for more yarn yesterday. Can’t wait to get it. Just for the heck of it, I counted the skeins in my yarn stash cause I had no idea how much I had. Oh goodness, I really had no idea. But it just keeps growing. As my friend who doesn’t knit, but who just received a cool pair of socks from me for her birthday said, “It’s OK. It’s your passion.” I’ll go with that. Enjoy a bite of that chocolate for me!
Maybe the shady character is a late (not to mention incompetent) Wollmeise stalker. Or, perhaps, an extremely early (and slightly more competent) Wollmeise stalker looking to hijack your next shipment en route from the delivery truck to your doorstep.
OR maybe he’s a PI hired by your competitors to investigate why the cute entry to the most wildly successful yarn enterprise ever is crowded with boxes that proclaim, “Fragile – Glass-Handle With Care.” Glass? Could this be some sort of dynamic, new wool alternative?
OR maybe he’s just your average, down-on-his-luck shady character looking for a secluded spot to conduct his highly confidential cell phone conversation, and he’s learned that there’s just such a spot–right outside your office window.
Love to Loopy!
Congratulations on the need to expand your space. Your growth has been wonderful and primarily for several reasons I can think of — customer service is key and you guys are the best; the fabulous yarns you sell; and the terrific way your sales site operates. Can’t wait for the anniversary posting!
Around these parts we have driveways piled with the coming winter’s firewood and mown fields filled with haybales. I’d rather have an entryway filled with boxes of yarn!
Congrats on your expansion!
Congratulations on the upcoming expansion I sure wish I could do that with our house. Maybe I’ll just tell the neighbours that I’m going to knock down the walls in their house and move some of my excess stuff in….I wonder what they’d say? Not my yarn, though, it’s staying right here.
Well for once I don’t envy you the chocolate; chocolate bacon just doesn’t sound too appetizing. You’ll have to let us know, though, maybe I’m missing out on something!
I hate to be negative but ……it’s not fair!
I thought having a tab open and checking the site all day and into the evening would be enough….but I missed the Wollmeise…again π
How in the WORLD does one get their hands on a skein of that yarn?!
I’m not blaming you of course! I LOVE your site and you π
I just had to whine a little….you know how it is. π
I’ve also had that bacon bar – a friend bought it for me, and I made everyone I could find try some. I thought it tasted like really good chocolate, but with bacon and salt. π We also got a variety box of small bars and did a taste test – the only other one you got that I’ve tried is the Barcelona one, which was one of my favorites. I now want to try that Calindia one, though, it looks incredible!
Oh, no! Not the chocolate bacon bar! Can’t you invoke the “women and children first” rule or something? VBG!
I am so glad you have Noro Silk garden. i could kick myself cause I just got some 2 weeks ago. Now with the cascade 220 I will be making felted bags like crazy. I have always loved shopping with TLE and now it is Nirvana with all the new great ayrns coming in. I want to try them all.
I wonder what the Anniversary kit will be? Can’t wait to find out. Maybe Loopy could give us some hints?
ooooooh shiney happy boxes!
YAY! Crap. I forgot to order bacon bars… I really need to do that– and I love their salted caramels and their truffles are amazing…..
IS it bad if I clicked the pics to try and peek at the boxes better?
I see fleece artist, and glass? (a coffee mug thats shippable, maybe?) and louet….
hmmm sounds like romper room – loopy style… “Romper bomper stomper boo—I see Louet, and fleece artist and boxes of glass too…….”
I am old FPS.
Chocolate and bacon! I got my husband one when I was in Vegas. What a combo! I’m a chocolate and peanut butter girl myself!
Yay! I certainly had my fun with the Hazel Knits! I’ve been pestering you about it forever so I’d better have right?! lol! I keep going back to check and am in awe that it’s not sold out. People just don’t know what they are missing!
GLASS??????????????????????????
Who am I kidding. I want the kit. Whatever it is. π
August 1st? But that is so verrrry verrry verrry far away! And as you know, after F5 day, our patience is gone gone GONE!
OK, my toddler moment is over, looking forward to the kit, whatever it may be.
Expansion in only 2 years! Go, Sheri!! That’s great!
I can’t wait to see what the 2nd Anniversary kit is! π
I missed the Wollmeise again too but that’s ok. I’ll get some someday.
cascade 220? I’m in so much trouble….
and I can’t wait to see what the 2nd anniversary kit is!
ooh! vosges! you will love them. LOVE!
I want to try the bacon bar! After calling around, I found a market nearby that sells them. Yay!
Love the photo of Gracie and Loopy!
I missed the Wollmeise again. Was sitting at my computer until an hour after it was posted and it never occurred to me to check and see if it was being posted. Oh well. I keep reminding myself that Dream in Color Smooshy was like this a year ago! Speaking of which, when IS more smooshy going to go up?
I went “boom” on the regular sneak-up anyway. Three new-to–me yarns and another Fleece Artist. And it has already shipped. You guys are quick!! I hope to eventually get some of that W-stuff. It’s a little frustrating knowing that there are people with a big ‘ol stash when I’ve never even seen it in person, but I’ll survive. I promise!
Thanks for running such a great business. It’s always a pleasure to do business with TLE!
The bacon bar is good (even a bit tame compared to what one might expect with a name like that!), and the Barcelona is very tasty for a more traditional flavor, but if you ever order from Vosges you must try the caramel marshmallows. They are SO GOOD. My friend’s wife is one of the owners so he’s tried it all and he always recommends the marshmallows (and the covered toffee)… yum… must. go. find. chocolate!
Gee, looks like Little Loopy is not helping out as much as usual this week. Or perhaps there aren’t as many Little Loopy’s around to help? And Gracie appears to appreciate his bed as much as Paddy appreciates his new canine brother.
Missed the Wollmeise again, playing with the puppy. Hopefully I’ll catch the Anniversary Kit. π
Whoo Hooo…..so glad that the chocolate was a hit! On my way TO the Spring Fling I experienced 2 of the Vosges bars…finding them at O’Hare when I changed planes from Seattle to St Louis. So then coming back to Arizona, I was once again routed thru Chgo and made a point of buying several more bars, this time including the Bacon bar, which I had been a bit leery of the 1st go ’round. WONDERFUL! WOW….whoda thought cocoa beans and piggie crisps would taste great together.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure got a buncho Hazel Knits…..who couldn’t with a name like that…..I love a play on words anyway.
Must go find a bacon bar…must go find a bacon bar…..
Congrats on the expansion and all your success. You and the loopy elves do it right and make it so much fun to deal with you all.
Can’t wait to see what is coming up!! All the best to you.
Bacon chocolate sounds really odd. Let us know how that tasted. And on the other issue, there can never be too much yarn and I’m sure it won’t be in Loopy Central for too long. You are running a great shop there.
Sheri –
Don’t worry about the Wollmeise thing, it was nice of you to post about Claudia’s site so that those that are craving it can have a second venue to try. I think that sharing how many skeins there were and just how fast it goes helps all realize that some extreme luck is involved in being in the right place at the right time.
Don’t know about the bacon chocolate thing – but I like chocolate covered espresso beans!
I think I really need to go shopping now for a bacon bar…
I have a solution for you Sheri. All those boxes are definitely taking up precious space, so all I ask is for you to slap an address label on one with my name and send it on over. Viola! Problem solved. I don’t even care which box you send. I am almost positive you have other Loopies that would be willing to take a box or 2 off your hands…or 3 or 4…hehehe. Can’t wait to see all the goodies!
Congratulations on the expansion! Now, I have another reason to come back to St. Louis! (well, besides visiting Mom of course). I FINALLY broke down on Monday and put the yarn away that I bought. I just couldn’t stop going into the spare bedroom and touching it all. What treasures π Thanks again for the ultimate shopping experience.
The Loopy Ewe Rocks!!!!
P.S. Really cute interview with Bob!
I can’t wait to hear how that bacon chocolate was! Meanwhile, I’ll hang on to a forlorn hope that someday…someday…I’ll knit with Wollmeise π
I almost picked up a chocolate with bacon bar at the airport in Chicago when Michele from Maine and Capi and I were walking about. It seemed wrong but when I told DH he was sad I didn’t. How exciting , the need for expansion!! I, along with others, am so thrilled for you and your continued success. I know I will do my part to try and empty your shelves so you have places to put new things.
Congratulations on the expansion! You and the Elves do such a great job, Sheri, it’s no wonder! And you haven’t even hit your second anniversary yet! (And now you’ve got me all curious about the 2nd Anniversary Kit!)
I’m so glad to hear you’ll be getting more Barista in, that’s a beautiful colorway and so cool for KD to have it named after her! (You see what an optimist I am—I really think I’ll be able to catch a Wollmeise Sneak Up someday…!)
So, if we are able to go home for Christmas, I need to make sure we change planes at O’Hare so I can get hold of some bacon chocolate…?
Woohoo! Expanding! Yea! But wow that is a lot of boxes! It looks like I’ll be closer in a while, we’ll be going to Houston for 4 to 6 months it looks like. So maybe I just might make it up to St. Louis sometime after all. Not likely to make Spring Fling though. Because after Houston it’s a year in Australia. This time, it really does appear to be certain. Well the Houston part anyway – it’d be just like the fates to tease me with Australia so I don’t try to get into Spring Fling and then take Australia away… Maybe I will go ahead and sign up. Maybe it doesn’t cost that much more to get to St. Louis from Australia as it does to San Francisco. Hmmmm, I’m liking this temporary overseas thing less and less every time I think of something I will have to give up for the duration. This morning it was my coffee (which I get at a very local place and it’s roasted right there).
Congrats on the expansion! That is such a good sign that small businesses are surviving in this world!
Hurrah for us…that means more yarn, more varieties…more choices!
Oh no π ……that means my stash will have to find a larger home too!!!
Groan…..
next time my mailcarrier gives me a funny look about all the packages— I’m showing this pic.
that is all.
Sheri, I am so happy for you being able to expand and doing so well. Not even two years yet. You’ve come a long way baby! That was really nice of Capi to send chocolate, she got that right, didn’t she. Can’t wait for Anniversary kit. Have fun opening all of the boxes it looks like Christmas in July. Hugs
Hmmmm….chocolate and bacon. Sounds odd, but judging from the comments it must be good!
Expanding?? WOW congratulations! Who did you have to boot out of the building???? π
Expanding already, Sheri that is awesome! I hope my name is drawn for the next Fling so I can see the changes that are being made π Anniversary kit you say? I’m all over that! Can’t wait to hear what you think of the bacon chocolate, I have plans to send my dad some for his birthday, hehe.
