I don’t know about you, but I have KNITTING scheduled for my weekend. Wonder Husband has flown the coop (oh, he’ll be back) and Knitting Daughter and I have declared it a “Girls Weekend” for movies and knitting. Yeehaa! Actually, Wonder Husband is heading to Iowa to visit his mom and sister and since KD has to do the Starbucks barista thing on Saturday, we’re staying home. I’m working while she’s working, but other than that we have things lined up to watch while we knit. What a great weekend plan, right? I started (barely) a pair of socks from my new Favorite Socks book – the ones on the cover. I’m doing them in Louet Gems in an eggplant color, and so far, I love them. I’ll take a photo when there’s enough to photograph. Why Louet Gems? It’s the next big yarn line that we’re getting in! I ordered all 36 solid colors in the fingering weight, plus 20 colors in the Sport Weight, and it’s scheduled to arrive next week. (Some of the colors are on backorder – so we’ll get the rest in asap. I ordered LOTS of each color so that we wouldn’t run out!) With all of the lace knitting going on, I wanted more solid color options. (Although we do have great options in our Cherry Tree Hill solids, as well as the Regia solids, the Argyle solids, the Apple Laine solids, and the Regia Silks.) Speaking of the Regia Silks, did you see this very cool pattern in the latest issue of Knitty? Made with Regia Silk. I can’t wait to try it out.
We do have some new yarns in – not yet up on the website, as they’re waiting to be photo-ed – and I don’t know if I’ll ever announce a shop update again. HA! Well, ok. I will. It really was fun watching all of that go on on Monday night, but it did take me almost the whole week to recover from all of those orders. The mailman was so funny. We mailed them in three batches, but the middle day had the most. I went out to help him load his truck (did I tell you they upgraded the size of his mail truck a couple of months ago? Hmmm -wonder why?) Anyway, he said, “Well, are you going to beat your record number of packages today?” I said, “I have no idea. What’s my record?” and he told me what it was. (Hilarious that he keeps track.) He was so funny – seemed excited to learn that we had beat it by more than 20 packages that day. As I was walking in the house when we were done loading his truck, I heard him muttering the number under his breath and saw him shaking his head & laughing. I could just see him going back to the post office and having fun showing off that full truck. Here I thought he probably just tolerated this whole thing, but he actually acted like he was cheering us on and having a ball. He’s a good mailman.
Here’s the fun hat that I knit with our latest new yarn line – Cider Moon. I LOVE their yarn! We have big batches of both their Glacier (sport weight) and Icicle (fingering weight) coming in. The Glacier shipped to me this week, so that will be up as soon as we can get the pictures done. They have been just lovely to work with and we’re excited to have them at The Loopy Ewe. Who blogged about them? I was reading through some of your blogs (I really do read your blogs – and have a lot of fun doing that) and one of you had posted that your favorite two places to buy sock yarn were The Loopy Ewe and Cider Moon. Well, I clicked right over to Cider Moon and ordered myself a skein of their yarn and a pattern. It didn’t take but a second to realize that we needed their yarn here. But I can’t remember whose blog I was reading at the time. So if it was you – a big THANK YOU for introducing me to them!
Here’s my first sock out of Breezy by Perchance to Knit. If you missed out on that yarn this week, we do have another big order in with Susie. I’m hoping to have that in sometime in April. She’s waiting on more base yarn. For those of you who received that yarn in your orders – don’t you love it? You know how I have vowed to take very few skeins out of the orders that come in here. I really really do try to save them for all of you. But I had to have a Primarily from this latest batch. And – there are more that I will need from the next batch. Sorry.
In-house and popping up on the website next week: a new batch of All Things Heather (I love Jelly Beans and Sunrise), and Cherry Tree Hill’s new DK weight yarn. Also coming in any minute – the other half of our Scarlet Fleece order (the other colors that we didn’t have in this week’s update – although I have had to order these first colors again, as they’re pretty much sold out from this week already.) Also, our big order of the merino/bamboo yarns from Seacoast shipped this week and I can’t wait to get that in. The colors are gorgeous! Also due in soon – Interlacements Tiny Toes, more Schaefer, more J-Knits, more Panda Cotton and more Fleece Artist. There. You’ve all been notified about upcoming shop updates. That may be all I’m going to tell you, so keep checking in on the What’s New button on the website! 🙂

Sheri you’llneverguesswho’scomingtovisittheLoopyRoominpersontoday-moreonMonday!
I have been considering getting the favorite socks book. I love interweave press. I did see the new Knitty sock patterns. I will have pick up some of the regia silk! I plan on knitting some socks (toe up for the first time) and continue to work on a sweater style t-shirt with an off center lace pattern running the length of the front. Have a wonderful weekend! Can’t wait to see what else is new. Yarn Pirate perhaps?
I am planning to knit the rest of my super bright and cheerful Opal sock. I am so ready for spring! Another great looking recipe to try…now if only I could motivate myself to plan meals rather than my “knitting to do list” or my “sock yarn to buy from the Loopy list” 🙂
Enjoy your weekend…you deserve lots of fun and relaxation!
Oh well that explains why i nearly mugged my postman (trust me he would like it…lol) over my order not being here yesterday! I am headed to the USPS now. It should be here today. I have my first day off since October of last year. I am barely getting dressed today (other than the postal run) and I am doing the proverbial dishes and laundry thing. Other than that nada except with my needles….lol! Sadly i am headed back to work tomorrow, oh well that only means more sock yarn purchases soon. Hope you enjoy your weekend with KD. And yes i am here twice daily for updates on the new stuff…..can hardly wait! DH thinks me ill…..i am contemplating a shawl in fingering weight. Of course he said the same thing about my candle collection taking over the fridge til the power went out for a week….LOL!
I have a busy weekend but I do hope to get in a little sock knitting. I’m doing a simple stockinette sock knit in Fleece Artist. This is some very soft, yummy yarn. Have a nice girl weekend!
Ooooooh, I like that Breezy! (Is that the one I ordered? I think it is…and I’m a happy camper!)
I’m so grateful for you. And for your mailman. You’re very, very, very good to us.
Happy weekend!
This weekend is all about some serious work on my Thermal sweater (from knitty) and the second in a pair of socks in Apple Laine. Then I hope to cast on for another pair.
The recipe looks fantastic. That’s going on the menu for sure!
That Breezy sock is just yummer-doodles! 🙂
Ohhhhhh Cider Moon. And Louet….holy smokes, Sheri! So excited for all the new yarny goodness! I kid you not, I was JUST goingt o place an order somewhere else for some of the Louet Merino, but I’m going to wait until you have it. It’s awesome to hear about your business success, congrats to you, and thanks to you and everyone in your family for working so hard to keep us rabid knitters happy and well stocked! 🙂
This weekend I’ll be finishing up my second Monkey sock and working on some baby knits for 4 (!) friends who have wee ones due in the next month or so. My man is out of town for work, so I’ve stocked up on movies and the dog and I will be camped out on the couch.
Wow, your business is just blooming! I wonder when they’ll upgrade your mailperson to an 18 wheeler.
I love that pattern on Knitty! I don’t think I’d make the cuff more than 4″ long cause I like ’em short, but that’s definitely on my to-do list.
This weekend I’m planning on starting and finishing the mate to my Monkey socks and then finishing up the mate to my Heart Socks. It really is a great pattern. It was very quick to knit and the charts were fun. I love me some good charts. 😉
Enjoy your weekend! I can’t wait till my daughters are old enough to “yarn” with me.
You guys are just gonna love the Cider Moon. The sock yarn in icicle is super soft and there is no pooling. The colorways are to dye for (pun intended). Sheri, once again you rock!
I’m totally jealous, I long for a knitting weekend! With two little ones around, most of my plans to do nothing get dashed:) I’m sad I missed out on all the fun Monday….I’ll be keeping my eye out for new yarns!
Sheri, that salad looks so good! I’m going to try that this weekend. Your weekend sounds like it’s going to be good! I’m planning a similar weekend myself….must get a little housework done and then finish my Flair cardigan and then some socks for hubby!
Be still my heart…Louet Gems??? Cider Moon??? I hope I don’t miss the update this time. Have a relaxing weekend, Sheri. You deserve it.
Yippy! It sounds like you are going to be adding some great yarns again. 🙂 More for my collection. Hope you and KD have fun this weekend. It’s going to be a knitting weekend for me too. I want to get my second Martha sock started and hopefully get the cuff done. 🙂
I got my latest order last night. So amazing! I loved the J-Knits and the Perchance to Knit!! Now if I could just win the lottery so I could knit full time to keep up with all the new yarns you’ve been adding. 🙂 Thank you for being so wonderful. It is such a pleasure to be able to order all this yummy stuff from you.
Sheri! My Loopy order came today. I have to admit that I’m a newbie to Scarlet Fleece and Apple Laine. The SF was sooooo squishy! Oh, and the depth of color on the AL, it is marvelous. Now I just need to get back to some sock knitting. I have quite the stash to choose from right now, mostly thanks to the Loopy Ewe. lol
My lil sis is in town and we’re going to have a sock knitting marathon(Ours is going to last a week, we both have Spring break at the same time). I’m in Sock Madness so I’ll be working on those socks most of the time. I might even use some “Martha” type yarn so I can get those submitted to you. Have a great weekend with your daughter!
I’m new to your blog and store – just placed my first order on Tuesday and loved your store so much I had to revisit/reorder on Wednesday.
Your girls’ weekend sounds wonderful. We had girls’ day last weekend – knitting while watching movies with my non-knitting daughter, what fun. I’m going to try to finish We Call Them Pirates, get my Madder Ribbed Sock (Knitting Vintage Socks) back on track, and make tracks with the my new STR club kit.
Unfortunately, I have to study like mad to make up for time lost watching American Idol this week. Otherwise, I won’t have time to knit at all.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for new stuff. Thanks for feeding my sock yarn fetish – if only I could knit them as quickly as I can buy sock yarn! Have a great weekend.
Linda
My heart is a-flutter!!! Cider Moon! Now I’m going to be pacing around my house until the next update! This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for…well…that and more Yarn Pirate. I keep hesitating and then I miss out! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend! (Cider Moon!)
ooo, I like Cider Moon, I haven’t actually ordered their yarn yet, but everything I’ve seen made with it is so pretty.
Can’t wait for another update *twiddles thumbs*
P.S. I’ll be working on my first intarsia project all weekend long *gasp* I really want to get to the halfway point on it…
I really want that favorite socks book too… I flipped through it at knit night yesterday…. so much prettiness!
Of course, you know that you have to make your mail man a huge batch of cookies or something. I love CiderMoon. But now I will have to decide to I order from you or them…..
I plan to finish my second sock in Passion Flower. I am making a spiral rib
pattern and thought I wouldn’t have enough yarn, but I did. I also have some
socks that I am making out of Gems that I purchased several months ago. I like
the yarn very much. I’m sure you will all be happy with it. I’m also working on two
scarves for my sons and may start on a scarf for one of my daughter-in-laws. My birthday is
tomorrow and I am expecting my family for a little while. Since I’m not well, and I
go to bed at 6:00 p.m., I don’t know how much knitting I’ll get done. Sometimes,
it’s even hard to put down for birthdays—-but not for family and especially
grandchildren. I hope you and KD have a great weekend.
That sounds like a wonderful weekend to me, especially since I have to spend mine writing a paper. I started some Fetching fingerless gloves, in the hope that during short breaks I can at least knit a bit and I will see more progress on those than I would on socks.
It’s wonderful that you and your daughter will be spending time together. My 4 daughters are all still young enough to want to be around me all the time but everyone me that things will change. I do knit with the oldest (13) and I hope when they are all older like your KD that they will still want to do spend their weekends with me. (Is there a trick or something you did that I should know about?)
Enjoy your weekend!
Ooh, I like the Cider Moon yarn! I just finished my first Fleece Artist socks (in Origin) this week and wore them for the first time–they’re wonderful! I’m glad you’re getting in more solids since what with the Favorite Socks book I kinda want to knit nothing but lace and cables for a while. The drawer full of self-striping yarn is feeling a little neglected. 🙂
oh my. just read your blog and went to see the socks at knitty. i so love cables. after the grandsons kneehighs, i didn’t plan on doing any more, BUT. . . . . will probably tackle those for me at some point. and all these new yarns you are finding for our pleasure. i’ll be working on a mate to a panda cotton sock i have made for my granddaughter. we absolutely love the look and feel of that yarn. your salad looks yummy and i bet it would be good with dried cherries also. ( : have a great weekend with KD. you’re all the best.
Have a wonderful knitting weeekend with KD! I have lots of sock knitting ahead of me, along with a trip to the mountains with lots of passenger knitting time!
Sheri,
I’m just recovering from a bad cold so I did not get a chance to thank you for my last order.I love the Claudia stuff, just love it!!! I can see that with all the great yarns it will not be difficult to place my 6th order…can’t wait to be a loopy. I am going to be knitting a simple plain sock, that’s all my mind will allow right now!!
I am hoping to turn the heel and get most of the foot done on my second Very Orange Sock from the CTH yarns – will blog the finished socks after my med blockers arrive (squeeee!). Your weekend of knitting and movies with KD sounds so fabulous, hope you have a relaxing yet knit-productive time!
And in very sad news Sheri, i fear I must have made a sneaky trip to the Loopy Ewe from my work computer once too often as it is now coming up as a blocked site – must have been the high sock pron content, lmao!!
O.M.G! back again to say I just checked out the Cider Moon link – *drool*. Oh I sooo hope you are getting some Pistachio and/or Birch Bark glacier…me likey ;o)
I’ll wait for you to get their yarn, but I zipped over to their site and bought some fiber – gorgeous stuff! I think I must make that chicken salad sometime this weekend. So, tomorrow I’ll cook chicken and knit!
Heehee, was it me? http://www.muntustitches.com/2007/01/30/favourite-online-stores/
If there’s one thing I’m obsessive about when it comes to socks, it’s your yarn store. I was happy to hear Cidermoon was going to be part of your inventory. They have beautiful colourways. And I don’t blame all the madness that occurs around your sock inventory updates…you and your Loopy Ewe Family are fantastic. I love your store!!! Seriously! 🙂
Thanks for the recipe! I love that type of salad.
This weekend I’m going to get started on felted clogs for my daughter since I’ve promised them to her like a month ago.
The SECOND their done? Back to my excellent toe up socks in my Claudia Purple Earth…they are Gor-geous!
Thanks again for the great service 🙂
I have been wanting to try the Louet for a while now, happy to know I can get it from my favorite pusher.
So, when’s the roving from all the indie dyers coming in for us spinners so we can get our fix all in one place? After the house addition or before
AnnaMarie
Sheri, I’m just recovering from a bad cold so I didn’ get to thank you for my last order. I LOVE the Claudia stuff! My brain will only allow simple sock knitting.Enjoy your weekend!
OMG!! I was so happy to receive my order today. I truly appreciate how quickly you turn orders around. The Apple Laine looks and feels scrumptious and the Perchance to Knit is perfect. So happy!!
I won’t get much knitting done this weekend (which would be good for my poor sad aching arms) because I’ll be here http://boston.langhamhotels.com/dining/restaurants_boston.htm#Chocolate celebrating a birthday with a girlfriend. Seriously, check out the menu http://boston.langhamhotels.com/pdf/06-07_chocolatebar_menu.pdf
I’m cursing this Carpal Tunnel which has slowed me down to a crawl. I’m thinking chocolate overload might just cure it.
Oh what you said AnnaMarie…lol! Sheri is our favorite “yarn pusher”. She keeps all of us “addicts” who need our weekly “yarn fix” from going through “yarn withdrawal”!
(**chuckles…must have been spending too much time in the ER here, with too many psych patients!)
But, oh my oh my, wish I had even more time to knit. My self-patterning stash was also feeling lonely (since I had gotten so much great stuff from Sheri), so I finished my online Euro toe-ups, and decided to whip out a pair of blue Regia stripey things in plain vanilla stockinette stitch. Started last week , now have both socks done down to the gussets.
I too looked at CiderMoon…and am drooling into my cider! Loopy Room watch out…here I come!
I got my latest order yesturday, today I plan to wind it into balls along with my STR yarn, start a new pair for me, and work on finishing my mom’s second Posh sock, I’m on the foot so to me I am almost done. The college kids go back home from break tomorrow, they have been at the beach all week, so they come home hungry. I also bought the favorite socks book and the patterns look wonderful, can hardly wait to try one. I am trying to decide how much yarn i can pack on the Scout trip later this month. Since we are going on the bus lots of kniting time. I am also getting lots of teach me requests, so this may be the only trip where we have to stop and buy yarn LOL. Actually they are planning to announce to bring yarn and needles if they want to learn. Maybe it will make the bus quieter HA. Have a great weekend
He’s in Iowa! Cool! I’m in Iowa. If you guys are ever near Des Moines, you should come over for a cup of coffee and yarn squishing!
(Did you get a lot of knitting done this weekend?)
I want to know who was fortunate enough to visit the Loopy Room in person. That’s cause for serious envy.
I just got the Favorite Socks book and was thinking I needed some solid colors and there you go telling us you’ve got a bunch coming. Can’t wait to see the colors!
