Into the Whirled, Malabrigo, Rowan, and More!

We have fun new things up on the website in tonight’s Monday Update! Pop on over.  Just up, you’ll find:

Into The Whirled – This is a new indie dyer to us, and you are going to love their yarn. Cris and James dye up these beauties in Phoenicia, NY and we will be adding more weights/bases as we go along. Tonight we’re putting up their Pakokku Sock yarn, which is a 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon fingering weight that has 460 yards per skein. If you’re not a sock knitter, trying using this for a Hitchhiker or a Lintilla. Those are two of my favorites for multi-color skeins. That’s what one of my skeins is going to become! (Shown here in Kimuro).

Woolen Mill Street – We have a new batch of Corriedale Roving from Christine, who dyes up her yarn and fiber in Missouri. So many fun colors in this batch! (Shown here in Haymich Abernathy).

The Loopy Ewe Solid Series – we’ve re-stocked Cardinal, Cherry, White, and Indigo.

Malabrigo – re-stocks in Worsted, Lace, Sock, and also Book Three in their pattern books.

ChiaoGoo – re-stocks on all of the needle sizes.

Loopy Cakes – We’ve re-stocked a few of the sold out packs and added three new ones for tonight: Lucky, Brrr, and The Abbey. (Time out – did you watch Downton Abbey last night? I mean, seriously? I didn’t see that one coming. Not spoiling it for any of those who haven’t caught that episode yet. But boy, this show keeps my interest. I do find it a bit hard to knit while watching it, though.) Back to Loopy Cakes – we really have a great time coming up with these fun little packs of colored cakes for you. It just takes us awhile to wind all of those little balls and get them ready to put up on the website! (Shown here in Lucky).

Rowan – Re-stocks on the Fine Lace. This gorgeous yarn is 80% Baby Alpaca and 20% Extra Fine Merino. That should tell you how soft and warm it is! 437 yards per ball, great for shawls, stoles, and wraps.

Rowan – KidSilk Haze Glamour A wonderful laceweight skein of 55% Mohair, 22% Silk, 20% Nylon, 3% polyester, with an extra ply of sequins mixed in to give it some pop. Not only is this great for evening wraps and scarves, but it would also make a nice trim on gloves or sleeves. It would be beautiful for Ice Queen, Wisp, Winter Berries, Party Lace Scarf, and Mohair Bias Loop. (Shown here in Blushes).

Knitting Gadgets – re-stocks on various notions, including Chibi’s and the Sock Doctor keychain.

Have fun checking out the new things, and we’ll work on getting your orders packed up and shipped out tomorrow!

Loopy Ewe Seasoning Series, Loopy Cakes, JulieSpins and More!

Happy Monday to you, the first full week in December. Are you done with your holiday knitting yet? Is it time to treat yourself to something fun? We have some great options that went up in tonight’s Monday Update!

The Loopy Ewe Seasonings Series – We gave you a taste of this with our August Anniversary Kit, and now the whole line of color is ready. Each set comes with a 430 yard skein of the main color and a coordinating solid mini skein (approx. 100 yards). We call the mini skein the “seasoning”, because everything is better with a little seasoning, right? This line is perfect for socks with coordinating heels and toes, shawls with a coordinating edge (like Breath of Fresh Air, or pretty much any shawl where you want to pop the edging a bit), hats/gloves/cowls with coordinating edging, etc. We have 27 color combos for you to choose from, and will be adding more colors as we move forward with the line. We’re happy to have the talented people from Lorna’s Laces dyeing up this line for us on their Shepherd Sock yarn base, which is one of our favorites. Here are a few of the 27 colors:

Cinnamon Toast, Undercover Agent, Loopy Lodge

Vacation Day, Sweetgrass, Icicles

Loopy Cakes – Thanks for the fun feedback on our first offering of Loopy Cake sets! We have used some of your great suggestions for another round of Cake packages for you. Each Loopy Cake set has 6 different mini skeins (approx. 110 yds. per cake, 660+ yards per set) that coordinate around a theme. In addition to the Autumn, Baby, Rainbow and Steampunk sets that we still have available, we’re adding in these new tonight: Chocolate & Roses (luscious pinks and browns), Manly (great for striped hats/gloves/scarves for guys), Starry Night (inspired by Van Gogh’s famous painting) Whisper (the softest, sweetest colors), and Doll Parts (hair and skin tones for knitting dolls). Each set is great for colorwork and fair isle (like Colorwork Christmas Ornaments), for knitting cute striped patterns (like Leap, Zig and Zag Sock Yarn Blanket, and Starfield Cuffs) , for baby socks and clothes (like Saartje’s Bootees, Tiny Shoes, and Wee Tiny Owl Socks) , for Hexapuffs and Sock Yarn Blankets, for small items (like Sweater Ornaments, Mini Mittens, Holly, Ivy and Steve which look great in Christmas Colors, but I want them in Chocolate and Roses or Whisper, Cabled Coffee Cuff, and Seed Stitch Bracelets) and for coordinating with other multi-colors. Here are the new Cake Sets:

Chocolate & Roses, Starry Night, Whisper

Manly, Doll Parts

JulieSpins – Silky 435. This fingering weight yarn comes 435 yards to the skein and is 50% Silk, 50% Superwash Merino. It has a beautiful light sheen and wonderful hand. You’ll like it for shawls, scarves, lace, and lightweight sweaters. Shown below in Leafy Shadow, Persian Violets, and Night Bird.

GoKnit Bags – we’ve re-stocked all of the colors in this great project bag line.

KnowKnits Bracelets – we’ve re-stocked all of the colors in these quick-to-knit kits, perfect for gift-giving. You can see the set I knit up on this blog post.

Have fun perusing and shopping, and we’ll look forward to packing up all of your orders asap!

Prism, Zauberball, and Loopy Cakes!

I’m not a big fan of novelty yarn. In fact, there is really only one that I remember liking in the past. I bought it in a yarn shop on vacation one time. It was soft and fluffy and made the most wonderful scarf! I liked it so much that I emailed the yarn shop where I had purchased it to ask if I could get more. They never answered me. The good news is that I have found something similar from Prism, along with a pattern for using it as edging on cowls, mitts and hats.  I wish you could feel this! When our Prism rep came wearing the cowl last winter, we all loved it and wanted one. So tonight, we finally have the yarn ready. These would make great (quick) gifts. I did the mitts in one evening and the cowl in a second night. Now I’m contemplating all of the other color options to see which one to make next. (Shown here in Smoke.)

Click on the photo to see the yarn up close. This Merino 12 has to be one of the nicest yarns I’ve used in a bulky weight. It’s twist gives great stitch definition. I think it would be great for quick scarves and hats, and wonderful for a sweater. (Or how about a Chickadee Cowl?)

You can make a cowl plus mitts with 2 skeins of Plume (the fluffy stuff) and one skein of Merino 12. If you want to also make the hat that comes in the pattern, you’ll want to add in another skein of each. If you order Plume plus some Merino 12 and would like the pattern, we’d be happy to include it for free with your purchase. Just leave us an order note telling us that you’d like it included. I have plans to make some more of these for gifts. The colors are gorgeous, as is always the case with Prism dyeing.

Here they are in Shadow, Denim, Mink and Antique.

And then in Woodlands, Smoke, Thunderclap and Mocha.

But those aren’t the only fun sets that we have up at The Loopy Ewe tonight. We’ve also added in Loopy Cakes, which are 100+ yd. mini cake sets from our semi-solid series. You know how quilters have Fat Quarters – small pieces of fabric in many different designs? We thought that knitters ought to have the same chance at building a palette of pretty colors, too. In tonight’s update, we have these different sets for you:

Here they are in: Baby, Christmas and Rainbow.

Then in Autumn and Steampunk.

What can you use them for? Colorwork, heels/toes/cuffs in socks, multi-color scarves, mitts, hats, cowls, baby items, etc. Try a few of these patterns: Chevron Stripe (in a mix of Autumn colors?), Starry Mitts, Cycle Race Beanie, Colorwork Christmas Ornaments, Mochimochi Snowmen, Wee Elfies, Mini Mania ScarfToy Balls, Saartje’s Booties, Mitaines Rainbow Mitts, Mini Christmas Tree Stocking Ornaments, Babette BlanketKraft-tanken Patches, Toadstool Baby RattlesMini Sweater Ornaments, Smidge Headband, Apple Core Blanket, and Hunca Munca Baby Socks,   Of course it goes without saying that these would be great for BeeKeeper Quilts and Sock Yarn Blankets.

We also added re-stocked more colors in Team Spirit, added some new Zauberball colors, put up the Romney Ridge 2013 calendars (Loopy Groupies – you get one for free with your first order in November – our gift to you!), The Fibre Company Patterns, and our Camp Loopy Bonus Yarn extras (shown here in Take a Hike), for those of you who didn’t get to earn a skein for free from Camp Loopy this past summer. These were done in the Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere base and it’s 400 yards of lusciousness. The bonus yarn colors are: Watering Hole, Take a Hike, and Sleeping Under the Stars. All of our Camp Loopy yarn offerings are exclusive to The Loopy Ewe. Get them while they last!
