Colinette Jitterbug, Fleece Artist, Manos, and More!

It’s Monday, and you know what that means? More pretty things up on the website for you. This week we have re-stocks of some popular lines, new colors from others, and a new Shawl Kit to share with you. Just up:

Colinette Jitterbug – I know, I know – it has been a long time since we had a good re-stock of this popular yarn. We bought lots, so you have many gorgeous colors to choose from! Jitterbug is a fingering weight yarn with a great, squishy twist, making it perfect for socks, shawls and scarves. I made this Multnomah Shawl with 2 skeins and really enjoyed working with it. (Shown here in Gaugin.)

Manos del Uruguay Alegria – Oh, this is a pretty fingering weight. 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Polyamid (nylon), with 445 yards in the skein. Great for socks, shawls and scarves. Even though fingering weight yarn takes a little longer to knit up (than, say, worsted or bulky weight), the fine texture and drape that you get makes it so worth it. (Shown here in Butla.)

Fleece Artist Trail Socks – A full re-stock on their fingering weight yarn on the 80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon base. One of the things I love the most about Fleece Artist is their wonderful sense of color. You’ll find some old favorites and some new inspirations as well.

The Fibre Company Road to China Light – This sport weight yarn is 65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel and 10% cashmere. Can you even imagine? It’s luscious. If you’re in the holiday gift-knitting mode, this is one of the yarns that people will unwrap and say, “Ohhhhh. Wow.” And isn’t that what you always want them to say when you have spent the time and money to knit them a gift? Try it for scarves, cowls, hats, mittens and shawls. (Shown here in Ruby.)

The Alpaca Yarn Company Passi Shawl Kits – A fun gradient shawl pattern that comes with 6 (90 yd) skeins of gradient-dyed colors to knit it up. You’ll find six different color of kits to choose from. The yarn is Paca Peds (65% Superwash Wool, 20% Alpaca, and 15% Nylon.) What fun!

Biscotte & Cie, Swan’s Island, Dream in Color and More!

Lots to share with you tonight! I set aside my Project Three last week to knit up a pair of socks to show you. (Actually, 2 separate socks. Not two matching socks.) We have our first 6 exclusive colorways from Biscotte and Cie, and I wanted you to see how a few of them knit up! So I knit two and Knitting Daughter knit one, and we have three more to go. But here are the first three so far.

I’m loving the colors. We also have Loopy’s Herman, Loopy Knit Night, and Loopy Kisses, in addition to the three above. And of course we re-stocked all of their regular self-striping colors, as well as a few new colors in their line. I find that these socks knit up so quickly. I do a really simple pattern, so the stripes can remain the focus. (Knitted foot, K2P2 ribbing on the cuff, short row toes and heels.) I’m eventually going to work my way through all of their colorways. Here’s the Grincheux colorway, my first pair of socks knit up in Biscotte & Cie. That’s pretty much when I decided that I needed to make more of these fun stripey socks.

We also added in a few other things tonight. Just up:

Swan’s Island Lace – spun in a historic mill in Maine, this yarn is hand-dyed using all natural dyes. 50% Merino Wool and 50% Tussah Silk, with 550 yards to the skein. Perfect for shawls, scarves, cowls and lightweight sweaters. (Shown here in Iris.)

Swan’s Island Worsted – spun in a historic mill in Maine and hand-dyed using natural dyes, this organic merino wool comes 250 yards to the skein and is great for sweaters, scarves, heavy socks, hats, mittens and gloves.

Dream in Color Everlasting Sock– an 8-ply fingering weight in 100% Superwash Merino, with 420 yards to the skein. You’ll like this for socks, as well as scarves, cowls, mitts, sweaters and shawls. Here’s the baby sweater and hat that I made out of it awhile back. (Pattern = Felix’s Cardigan and Shibui Knits Bebe Hat, color = morning glory, 1 skein.) I like the fact that there is no pooling or obvious striping.

Fleece Artist Saldanha Two Lace– Beautiful colors and great yardage. This 100% Merino is approx. 870 and is machine washable. Perfect for shawls, whisper-soft scarves, cowls and mitts. (Shown here in Beet. I love this color.)

Don’t forget to get your Sixth Anniversary Kit, if you haven’t already ordered it. We’ve shipped a lot of them out! We ordered extras so that we wouldn’t miss those of you who go on vacation in August and might not catch it the first week. Thanks for all of your emails about the pretty red color. Red is a hard color to capture perfectly in online photos, but I’m glad you’re happy with it when it arrives! Lorna’s Laces did a great job nailing just the shade that we had in mind for this.

Hand Maiden, Fleece Artist, Madelinetosh and More

I’m thinking about cooler weather. Not because it’s cool here (it’s not), but because I find myself feeling ready for Fall. My first post-Camp Loopy project is going to be a Charleston Tea and I know I will love wearing it when it is done. If you’re feeling the same way – thinking about Fall and sweaters, then you might want to snatch some of the Madelinetosh Sport that just went up. It would be beautiful for a Charleston Tea! Or several other things. We’ve just added in:

Madelinetosh – Sport. More than 70 colors, just in time for fall sweater and vest knitting. Here are a few patterns to check out: Marly (a cute short-sleeved sweater for warm fall days), and Eisen (loving the texture in that one). And someone was knitting Cavallo Point last week at Knit Night and I immediately wrote down the pattern name. It looks like a winner and would be beautiful with Madtosh Sport. (Shown above in Fathom.)

Hand Maiden – Casbah. This is one of the first Merino/Cashmere/Nylon bases that we carried, and it continues to be a favorite. The colors, the feel – all gorgeous. I like this yarn for socks and shawls. Did you see the Estuary pattern in Knitty? Or the Summerside Shawl? For socks, try Copper Penny Socks, or Brigid.

Fleece Artist – BFL Sock.A great base for socks, but you’ll see pretty shawls made with it, too. Need pattern ideas? Try Chamfer or Inlay. I love Hunter’s sock patterns. (Shown here in Blomidon.)

Swan’s Island – Organic Merino Fingering. Great yardage and pretty, soft colors makes this a wonderful yarn to work with. We have also added in their pattern line tonight. I think this would make a great Beautiful Cobweb shawl, or a cute short-sleeved sweater like Urban.

Knitifacts – This is a new line of stitchmarkers that we picked up at market. I love their snag-free pretty colors. I also like that there is nothing dangling to get caught up in my knitting. We also have their Bumpers and Bitty Bumpers – little rubber rings to put on the ends of your needles when your knitting is at rest. (Stitchmarkers shown here in the Purple Rain color.)

We have a winner for the Reader’s Choice Award from the Second Quarter Challenge, and a winner from the random drawing as well. Both winners have received a $25 Loopy Credit in their accounts! The Reader’s Choice Award goes to Allen in GA for her Simple Shellseeker, which looks really comfy and was made with Spud and Chloe Sweater. And the other award goes to Julie in OH for her cute Spring Garden Tee made with Cascade Ultra Pima. Congratulations to both of you!
