The Monday Update is ready for you! Today we added in two new yarn bases, plus our June Camp Color and more.
June Camp Color – Dyed up exclusively for us by Dream in Color, you’ll love this Absolute Magnitude Space Camp color. We had them dye it up on the Smooshy with Cashmere base (fingering weight) and the City base (heavy worsted weight).
What is Absolute Magnitude? It’s a term that astronmers created when they needed a way to compare the absolute brightness of celestial objects. Apparent Magnitude tells us how bright an object appears from Earth. Absolute Magnitude is equal to the apparent magnitude if viewed from a distance of 10.0 parsecs (32.6 light years) without exztinction or dimming due to absorption of cosmic dust or interstellar matter.
New Yarn from Malabrigo! Susurro is a single ply sport/DK weight yarn that is 50% Silk, 25% Linen, and 25% Merino Wool. Great for shawls, scarves, and lightweight garments. We have it in all 27 colors.
New Yarn from Cascade! El Cielo is an interesting base. It’s 89% Fine Alpaca and 11% Nylon. The alpaca is wrapped around a nylon core to create a soft, cozy strand. What do you use it for? You can certainly use it on its own for beautiful shawls and cowls, but I plan to use it as a carry-along with any type of wool yarn. (Much like you do with some mohair bases, only this one is a whole lot softer!) One of my favorite patterns like that is Cabled Rib Wrap, and I can see using Uncommon Thread DK with a strand of El Cielo, to make a gorgeous, warm and cozy wrap.
The Fibre Company Luma – re-stocked. I’m using this for my June Camp Project (making Linea) and can’t wait to wear this sweater! This DK weight yarn is 50% Wool, 25% Cotton, 15% Linen and 10% Silk.
The Fibre Company Canopy Fingering – re-stocked. This fingering weight yarn is 50% Baby Alpaca, 30% Merino Wool, and 20% Viscose Bamboo. So soft and luxurious.
Kelmscott Designs – just came out with the Joji Scissor (designed for Joji Locatelli), so we have those in stock for you! (Any other scissor collectors out there? I love them!)
