Camp Loopy Space Camp, Month Two!! How are your Month One projects coming along? I’m almost halfway done, which is good, since the month is almost half over! But I’m already planning my July project.
Remember – Camp Loopy is a virtual camp, so you can participate from the comfort of your own home (and bed!). You can do any or all of the three months you’d like to do. Here are the particulars.
July’s challenge celebrates the stars in outer space (and on Ravelry)
The challenge is to knit a pattern from one of the designer “stars” on Ravelry. Any designer who has three or more pages of patterns listed on Ravelry gets into the “star” category for this challenge. (They are prolific stars!) Minimum yardage requirement: 400 yards.
Here are a few options for you: Stephen West, Joji Locatelli, Isabell Kraemer, Melanie Berg, Kate Davies, Ysolda Teague, Norah Gaughan, Alicia Plummer, Thea Colman, Hannah Fettig, Romi Hill, Justyna Lorkowska, Carol Feller, Michele Wang, Laura Aylor, Susanna IC, Hilary Smith Callis, Bristol Ivy, Verybusymonkey, Casapinka, Amy Herzog, Wendy Johnson, and Veronik Avery.
How do you know how many Ravelry pages of patterns they have? When you click on a designer’s page, it’s right here:
It’s ok if that third page isn’t completely full. Just make sure it lists a third page. Your projects also needs to fall into one of these yardage categories: 400-599 yds, 600-799 yds, 800-999 yds, 1000+ yds.
Camp Store Week: June 12-19
When you order during Camp Store Week, we will give you 15% off the yarn for your July Camp Project, if you leave us an order note telling us which yarn is for your July Project. We’ll apply the discount on our end after your order comes through to us. (If you are going for free shipping in the U.S., please make sure the discount won’t take you below the $100 level or the website will add the postage cost onto your order.)
To earn Camp Points for July:
- Complete the Camp Loopy Challenge for July: Knit or crochet a pattern from a designer that has 3 or more pages of patterns on Ravelry.
- Your project needs to fit in one of these categories: 400-599 yards, 600-799 yards, 800-999 yards, or 1000+ yards. If you’d like to join in on our Ravelry Camp Loopy groups, you’ll join the group that correlates to the yardage on your project.
- Your July project supplies need to be purchased from The Loopy Ewe June 12, 2019 or later. Your July project needs to be knit or crocheted between July 1 and July 31. The full yardage must be used in one single project, singly knit (yarn not held double).
- You must upload a photo of your completed July project to our Loopy Camp Gallery by August 1. In your photo notes, please notate the yardage category that you completed (400-599, 600-799, 800-999, or 1000+) along with the pattern name and designer.

Loopy Kids Version
We would love for your kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews/neighbor kids to join in on the Loopy Camp fun again this summer. They can choose to do half the yardage requirements (their categories: 200-299, 300-399, 400-999, 500+) and will receive half the points for successful completion. Please help them make their own Loopy Account so we can track their purchases, photos and points.
For the Sewists & Quilters:
Instead of Camp, we’re continuing with our Monthly Sewing Challenges for our fabric lovers out there. The challenge for July is to make a project that incorporates all of the colors in your country’s flag. This can be a quilt, table topper, bag, garment, pillow – anything you’d like to make. Project should be started and finished between July 1 – 31, and a photo uploaded to our gallery by Aug. 1 in order to earn 50 points for completion.
Did you catch our recent Yarn Updates?
We have a June Exclusive Space Camp color from Dream in Color, called Absolute Magnitude. Available in the Smooshy with Cashmere and City bases. We also added in our June Scissor of the Month, our June Needle Minder of the Month, June Sewing Kit, June Knitting Kit, plus new bases from Cascade and Malabrigo. Just in case you need some extras to travel along with your Camp Loopy project yarn. 🙂
We can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing for July!
