We are having beautiful fall weather here in Fort Collins (Colorado).
When you have a photographer in the family, fall is always a prime photo taking month. Paul was up in the mountains taking photos a couple of weeks ago. Getting some shots in an aspen grove, he heard a noise behind him. He turned around and saw this guy. (I’m thinking the moose was eating, based on the leaves scattered on his nose. Click on the photo to make it bigger.)
Paul quickly and quietly packed up his tripod, took this quick snap, and then headed to the car. He said the moose followed along a bit, making sure he was leaving. He takes photos often (you can see more of his photos here if you’re interested), but this is the closest moose encounter to day.
Good grief. Although I do like the photo. đŸ™‚

Wonderful shot! I know from our Alaska trip that Moose eat young tree growth – so, yes.
How awesome it must have been to see this magnificent creature close up.
Love the moose. How about dying yarns for the Dandelion photo and the crabapples?
What a handsome fellow! I love seeing moose in my yard from the safety of my house. They are huge creatures.
What a handsome chap! Glad Paul takes his safety seriously and skedaddled.

Beautiful shot, and by a wise man! I always shudder when I see or hear of photographers trying to get “just a little closer” for that perfect pic. As Queen Aretha sang:
