We had such a fun time at The Loopy Ewe Fall Fling Retreat last weekend! Thanks to all who attended and brought smiles to our faces all weekend long. It was great to have you here.
We started with registration (meaning you get your fun goodie bags and a friend-scavenger-hunt sheet to fill out) on Thursday afternoon. That night was our Dessert Reception with a talk about StitchMaps from JC Briar. Despite the 130 desserts beautifully laid out that evening … I forgot to take photos. Here is a photo of the four teachers (and me) that night as I introduced them, though! L-R: Sivia Harding, Laura Aylor, Rebecca Danger and JC Briar.
We also did a Show and Share and saw so many amazing handknits and quilts from everyone. (Again – no pictures. We were having too much fun ooh-ing and aah-ing I guess.)
Friday and Saturday were full of classes and shopping trips to Loopy Central and knitting and fun.
As always, we saw a lot of amazing handknits and fun class samples both days!
Friday evening we had a PJ Party, with participants earning doorprize tickets for various project bag items and different PJ topics. We also gave out a lot of doorprizes by drawing the completed friend-scavenger-hunt slips. We ended the evening with cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. As you do.
Saturday during the day, more shopping and more classes, and the sewing people had a lesson on hand sewing from Jenny. Then a wedding couple celebrating their reception at the hotel came in to see if we could help with fixing the bride’s wedding train on her dress, which of course we could. #jennytotherescue #alwayscarryneedleandthread
Saturday evening brought the wrapup and a lot more doorprizes given away. This year people earned tickets all weekend to add to the doorprizes they wanted to be considered for. We required a bit of a “woohoo!” from the winners and most were happy to comply. Most. 😉 Here are a few of the Flingers surveying half of the prizes, determining which ones to add their tickets to.
Sunday was head-home day for most everyone and we were sad to see them all go. But we heard that they all want to come back for the next Fling, so we’re working with the hotel to come up with the next dates. We will keep you posted!
We do have THREE goodie bags left for a blog contest, and that’s where you come in! Leave a comment below and tell us your ideal month to attend a Knitting Retreat (we’re contemplating options for the next one). We’ll draw three winners next week! Each winner will receive the zippered canvas tote, pattern packet, Loop Solid Series yarn and Dream in Color City Mini Skein, Loopy Bag Tag Set, Fling Water Bottle, and Loopy Notions Box – a $75+ value. Shall we send it off to you? And can you come hang out with us at the next one?

February or March! Still nice and cozy for knitting and sewing, but still not too snowy! (I was originally thinking April, but that always seems to be one of the snowiest months here in CO.)
Mid May would be great…
May is my birthday month and is an easier time for me to attend fling. I was able to attend a class with Rebecca Danger this time (Saturday) and it was wonderful.
Yes, I plan to attend the next one. I should have plenty of vacation hours by then,
Someday I hope to make it to your shop! I think October is the ideal month..but really, any month is great for a retreat!
I think Spring is great for me because I feel revitalized and it’s eadier to pack if I don’t need to buy a winter coat
Ooh, early spring is probably the easiest for me. Maybe March? If it coincided with my kids’ Spring Break, perhaps I would feel less guilty!
I like winter because the cold weather makes me want to knit
October is really good for me, away from all the graduations and other spring celebrations. But really, as long as it doesn’t conflict with Empty Spools, I can probably make it!
October is a lovely month and eventually it will be a perfect month for me to enjoy things like the Fall Fling!!!!
May is a good month. Before the insanity of summer school construction.
July would be a lovely month. My girls would be out of school for the summer (They are in their late teens). Work is a bit more orderly and time off is easier to arrange.
Oh- I think any time is good for a Retreat! If I have to choose, Fall is my favorite. September or October.
September or October would work best for me. The Fling looks like a fun event!
There’s not a bad month for a knitting retreat but I think October is the best. Cooler weather heightens my need to knit!
My favorite month to go on a knitting retreat would be September/October for the fall feel. I always love to knit, no matter what the season, but knitting in the fall gives me an extra sense of coziness. Also, the weather in the fall is usually still pretty good for travel.
I would think any time would be a great time to be in beautiful Colorado hanging with Loopy people, but practically speaking, June or July would be best for me. I’m a school counselor, and I am generally off then. That being said, if things worked out financially and family wise, say the word,
I think a great time for a retreat in Colorado would be May. It was always my favorite month when I was living there. Everything was blooming and the weather was still just chilly enough for warm clothing (ya know, knits).
I would love to come to one of your Flings. I don’t know if there is an ideal month for a retreat. Since you’re in Colorado, I’d say not winter, because the weather can make it so hard to get there. And summers tend to be so busy. I guess May/June or September would be ideal for me.
February or March would be awesome – a break in the later winter that sounds like it is full of fun!
Late September, it is starting to feel like fall, but the weather is still beautiful!
October!
Any month is good for a knitting retreat, but fall would be best.
November! Fall weather and work slows down!
I enjoyed hearing all about Loopy.
Attending a Fling is on my bucket list:) I think the perfect month would be June. The weather is usually nice and I imagine Colorado is just gorgeous and green at that time of the year.
March or Mid-May
May to August is good for me. There is A/C, right, LOL?
Early November or April
Fall is the prettiest time of the year, but your winter pictures always have me wishing for a winter retreat, though hard for traveling! What is your favorite time of the year?
March?
Missed being there this year! Looks fun!
Late May or summer. One day I’d love to make it to Fling.
I think any month is a great month for a knitting retreat! I suppose if I had to pick it would be May….or October. I hope I don’t miss the next one!
I think February would be lovely! And would make a wonderful Valentine’s gift to myself! 🙂
I vote for October so I could make it my birthday present to myself
Sure looked like a great time was had by all! Just might have to come to the next fling!
September would be ideal! it would be a real treat to come and hang out at the next retreat!
Hmmm… I don’t think there’s a bad time for a knitting retreat! But I’d say that February or March would be nice. I’m not sure I’d be able to come hang out with you at the next one, though that sure would be great!
May would be fabulous, not too hot and usually not too snowy.
I love the idea of March or April.
July seems to be the best month for me. I know it can get hot, but there’s no school, and the other obligations for my family are far away.
September or October. Still plenty of time for knitting for the holidays and the cooler weather is great for travel.
My birthday month…..April.
Oh dear, wish I’d been paying attention to know about this. Maybe next time! April would be a good month for me as it is my birthday month and I’d have for extra treats.
I think mid October works best – I love knitting when there is a chill in the air and I can sit in a comfy chair with a blanket.
The retreat sounds like so much fun I’m surprised there is time for knitting! My best month for attending has to be a cool weather month–in the 50s or 60s or lower–without too much heating.
September or October sounds good. By that time I simply cannot take the heat in the Phoenix area a moment longer and a getaway to anywhere cooler is so necessary!
May would be the perfect month for a knitting retreat: it’s my birthday month AND it’s the first month that I am available after finals. Also, the blooming flowers can only make the retreat more beautiful!
February!
