Camp Loopy (and New Loopy Rewards!)

It’s our favorite time of year – time for Camp Loopy 2017!

Each year we so enjoy doing our virtual camp with you, and we have lots of fun challenges, contests, photo challenges, and rewards for you for participating this year. Plus we have a fun new theme – we’re doing Dinosaur Camp this year!

Each month this summer (June, July and August) we will knit (or sew) a different project. You can participate for one month, two months, or all three months. You’ll get points for each month you complete, and bonus points for completing all three months! We’ll announce the challenge approx. two weeks before the month starts, to give you time to pick a pattern and order. There is no official sign up – just put your order in and indicate in the order notes that you’re participating in Camp Loopy with us this summer. Of course there are benefits to participating, and we have contests, drawings, and fun going on all summer long surrounding Camp Loopy. We hope you will join us! Here are the details:

Project One Yarn – The June Challenge: This project needs to be knit or crocheted between 6/1 and 6/30 (with a photo of the completed project uploaded to our Project One Photo Gallery by 7/1).

  1. Dinosaurs came with all different textures – feathers, scales, spots and more. Pick a project that has texture (through different stitches) OR pick a yarn that reminds you of these textures (speckles, gradients, sparkles, etc.).
  2. Yardage Requirement: 400 or more yards used in one project
  3. Points for completing the June Project: 100*

Project One Fabric – The June Challenge: This project needs to be sewn between 6/1 and 6/30 (with a photo of the completed project uploaded to our Project One Photo Gallery by 7/1).

  1. Dinosaurs came with all different textures – feathers, scales, spots and more. Pick a project that has texture (through quilting or technique) OR pick fabrics that remind you of these textures (spots, waves, metallics, etc.).
  2. Yardage Requirement: 2 yards or more used in one project
  3. Points for completing the June Project: 100*

We are offering a 15% Camp Loopy discount for the yarn or fabric you are going to use for your project during a designated “Camp Loopy Store Week” each month. The discount for Project One, is valid for one project’s worth of yarn/fabric during Camp Store Week One (May 9-21 – we extended it this month to include our Kids Camp version!). To get the discount, you will need to leave us an order note on the order, telling us which yarn or fabric will be used for your Camp Project. We’ll apply the discount when your order comes through to us. If you’re going for free shipping in the U.S., please make sure that your discount won’t take you below the $100 free shipping level, or the website will add the shipping charge back in after we do the discount.

New this year – Loopy Double Dipping Rewards! (see below for details) You’ll earn 100 points for June project completion, 200 points for July project completion, 400 points for August project completion, and a bonus of 500 more points if you have completed all three months!*

* In order to earn points for the projects, you must be using yarn or fabric bought from The Loopy Ewe during Camp Store Week or later for each project, and your photos of the completed project must be uploaded to our galleries by the due date for each project.

Camp FAQ’s – Instead of making this blog post even longer (!!), most of your questions can be answered from last year’s FAQ section. Of course our rewards are different this year – now we have points earned for each project, and you choose your reward – so keep that in mind. If you have a question we didn’t answer there, hop onto our Loopy Groupie board on Ravelry and ask away, or email us.

New Rewards – Double Dipping!

We know some of you like the new coupon rewards, but some of you also miss earning other fun things at different levels. So – we’ve adapted our Loopy Rewards Program to combine both! Now you get to double dip on rewards here at Loopy, and you get to pick the point rewards that you want to receive. How cool is that?

The first dip: You earn a $25 Loopy credit each time your orders accumulate to $250. You’ll have 6 months to use that credit.

The second dip: We’ll be giving you a point for every dollar spent on products purchased. (We’ll also be giving you additional ways to earn extra points throughout the year – like for completing Camp Loopy projects and other things). You can spend your points and pick your own rewards in our new Loopy Rewards Store, beginning June 1st. Points don’t expire.

(Taxes, fees, and classes are not included, and amounts paid with account credit do not qualify for reward points or towards your next credit reward. Regular shipping rates apply to items purchased for points in the Loopy Rewards Store, or add them to ship along with one of your orders.)

Although our Loopy Reward Store won’t go up until June 1st, we will be retroactively awarding points for all of your Loopy purchases from May 1st, on. (Camp Club members – we’ll also be rewarding you points for your Club purchase.) Once the Loopy Reward Store goes up, you’ll be able to view your Reward Points on your Loopy account page. We have brought in some really cool things for reward options for you – we can’t wait to show them all to you! We’ll also have the coupon discount rewards in the Rewards Store, so you can use your points to pick and use those as well. We have rewards starting at 125 points, and going up to 2000 points. Items are available while they last, and we’ll bring in new items regularly.

Why do rewards? Because we appreciate you. We know there are many shopping choices out there, and we are delighted when you choose to shop with us. We love having you here, and we hope you feel appreciated each and every time you order from us, and each time you redeem your rewards. It’s fun to share these with you.

Now – back to Camp. Are you ready to get your June project order in? Pop over. And we have FOUR Camp Loopy products for you this year! A Camp T-shirt, a Canvas Camp Tote, a larger Vintage Campster Tote, and a Camp Tumbler. We hope you love them!

  1. I’m sorry if I missed it, but when is Camp Week at the store for month one? (Like when we get the 15% discount)

  2. I lOVE the theme.

Apatosaurus, T-Rex, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus and a Parasourolophus. I’ve been trying to get my son to illustrate something like this for me forever but he refused to mix the “timelines”
    I can’t wait to start.

  3. I would like to spin some of your fiber for the project. Can I spin the yarn this month and knit the project in the allotted time or do I need to do both next month:)?

    1. Sure, that makes sense. As long as you don’t start knitting until June 1. But you’re allowed to prep (meaning doing a gauge swatch if need be, or in this case, spinning the yarn!) prior to June 1.

  4. I signed up for Camp Loopy a few weeks ago. When will that yarn be shipped? Will we get a preview of that yarn so we can pick our project based on what the yarn looks/feels like?

    Thanks.

    1. Hi Kat – we had said we’d ship those kits around the third week of the month, but we’re a little ahead of that schedule and hope to have them shipped out by the end of this week. As soon as they ship, we’ll put a spoiler photo on our Loopy Groupie page on Ravelry!

  5. Would a pair of socks work for this challenge? I usually have a small ball left out of a 435 yard skein.

    1. Hi Kristin – Socks are fine as long as you use 400 yards. You may have to make longer socks than normal to make sure you get the yardage in!

    1. Hi Dejah – sure! Many people go over the minimum yardage. I will clarify that in the blog post.

  6. This will be the 3rd time I’ve done Camp Loopy. I was just at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival…and spread the word of Camp Loopy where ever I went. (Helped that I was wearing my One Ring Scarf that I did for an August challenge!). So much fun to be had! Can’t wait to start. But I will!

    1. Wendy – thanks so much for spreading the word about Camp Loopy! We sure appreciate it. Hope you had fun at MDSW!

  7. DINO-mite ! I’m so excited about the camp announcement! our Bee Eye group has been stalking and watching and waiting. two of us ordered last night – mine has been shipped – YAHOO! I try very hard during camp to use “new to me” yarns and this time I ordered Knerd String, fun ! I like the changes you made to the rewards for camp – I think it was a good change. Now to decide what project to do. Just to get my knitting fingers limbered up – I’m starting Joji’s MKAL on Friday – most of the 5 are from my vast TLE stash. Cheers Mel

    1. Thanks for the feedback on the new rewards, Melody – I’m glad you like it! I also like your idea of trying new-to-you yarns during Camp each year. I’m betting you will love Knerd String!

  8. I have my items in my cart and ready to get this party started! Camp Loopy…here I come!

  9. So will there still be a big skein of yarn as the reward for completing all 3 projects or is the reward a point based system now?

    1. It’s point based now, so that people can pick which month they want to do and still get rewarded (or do all three for even more point rewards). And then you can pick your reward with your points earned!

    1. Hi Amanda – For Camp, the project needs to use the yardage in one item. The exception to this is things that come in pairs – like a pair of socks or a pair of mittens or gloves. (That is a gorgeous pattern, though!)

      1. Okay! Makes sense. 🙂 Are we able to modify patterns? As in, could I make a longer version of the cowl to hit the 400 yard requirement?

  10. Wow! I wasn’t expecting my yarn to arrive as quickly as it did. Love the yarn. Love the pattern delivery via PDF. Loved, Loved LOVED the tiny velociraptor tucked into one of the skeins.

  11. Just about done with my Drachenschwanz shawl for June, and I can’t wait for July. My big problem is that as a teacher we go back to work on August 4 with the crazy schedule that includes.. Knitting time will disappear.

Any chance of a heads up for that last one? I really want to get them done before work starts.
