January Monthly Mixers

The Loopy Ewe Monthly MixersThe Monthly Mixers are fun challenges to add a little variety to your knitting or sewing/quilting projects. You get to mix it up with things you might not have thought of, and you get to meet new friends you might not have met! You can participate in one or twelve or any number in between. There is no due date – take as long or as little as you need to finish it. And if you’d like to share photos and talk about it? We have a Monthly Mixers thread on our Loopy Groupie board on Ravelry. We’d love to have you join in!

I know quite a few of last year’s Mixer participants used their Mixer projects for gifts during the year, which is a great idea. Each year I think I’ll be more on top of gift knitting and quilting, and yet I still ended up making two quilts in November and a cabled vest in December because I didn’t plan ahead. The Mixers are a good way to go!

January Yarn Mixer: We want to start the year out as colorfully as possible – use 3 colors of yarn (or a skein that has 3 distinct colors in it) in your project this month.
Ideas for Multicolor skein: Hitchhiker, Brickless, Downtown Cowl, Favorite Scarf Ever, Charade, Stitch Sampler Shawl, Samen, Scylla, Sonnentau, Manic Panic Cowl, Aquaphobia Socks, and Ananke.

January Fabric Mixer: One of the most colorful fabrics in our aisles are the batiks. Gorgeous from one end of the long row to the other! Use at least 3 different colors of batiks (or a batik that has 3 distinct colors in it) in your project this month.

We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

  1. Question – If I use the BMFA in the Lake Dillon color way – would that be OK? I know it’s really shades of green and shades of blue. But do dark, and light blue count as 2 colors or one? Thanks.
