This is a Ketchup Catsup Catch-up day on the blog, as there are miscellaneous things I wanted to touch base on today. First of all, we have prizes to award:
1. For Loopy’s Spring Challenge, we used the Random Number Generator to pick two winners from all participants. Meredith in MA and Kristine in CO each won a $25 Loopy Ewe Gift Certificate!
2. For the blog contest about great knitting books for your library, we are sending Light and Layered Knits to Marla in CA, Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary to Stephanie in CO, The Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet Volume One to Jane in KS, and The Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet Volume Two to Lindsay in PA. 3. Camp Loopy – how are your first projects coming along? I really like my Summer Love Wrap, done in Universal’s Cotton Supreme. I made a sweater out of this same color once, but it was too big (and darned if that yarn does.not.shrink no matter how many times you wash it and send it through a hot dryer). I had to give it away. So I’m glad to have something else done up in this beautiful Aqua color.
4. Also regarding Camp Loopy – this Glamping on Loopy Lake colorway is one of my most favorites ever. Next, I want a sweater out of it. (Click on the photo to see how the deep lake navy and the deep woods green play together). I also saved enough skeins of the February color for a sweater. And I think the March Celebrations color would be the greatest color in the world for a t-shirt and jeans sweater. Of course Jack is Back would be a beautiful neutral sweater for blacks and browns. I also set aside a skein of it to make myself Jack Socks.
5. I had to search on Ravelry to see if there were any cute Jack Sock patterns. Maybe Jack Thermal. I did find this adorable Jack-O-Lantern, which has nothing to do with the Jack is Back colorway. But isn’t he fun? I love Alan Dart patterns.
6. I ran across the best shortcut for making s’mores, ever.
7. For those of you who email often to ask how Mocha-the-outdoor-cat is doing these days, here’s a photo from this past weekend. He still belongs to our backyard neighbors, but he spends several days a week sleeping the day away on our back deck, and popping over a few times in the evenings as he takes his neighborhood stroll. I’m pretty sure they have no idea he spends half his life at our house. We’re happy to have him around. Since that post in the link above from 12/11, not only do we put food and water out for him, but we give him a daily brushing and he loves to be picked up. Do you think that might be why he hangs around?? 🙂
8. Back to ketchup – I had homemade (restaurant-made) ketchup in Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant in Las Vegas last fall, when I was there for a yarn industry meeting. (Look – here’s a blurry picture of Beth from Lorna’s Laces, but at least you can see the amazing fries and homemade ketchup on our table.) It was the best ketchup ever. Ketchup and I like it on fried eggs. I have been known to doctor it up with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and/or Penzey’s Mural of Flavor. I can’t seem to leave things alone.
I put catsup on hamburgers, hotdogs & especially delicious WI brats. Having lived in WI 61 of my 62 years, I am biased in saying we have the best brats found anywhere in our travels. We do travel a LOT & no one has better ones that we do here in WI !! ♥

“Carpet bag” always makes me think of Anne of Green Gables, and her bag that had be carried in a special way or the handle broke. I don’t know if it actually says in the text that it’s a carpet bag, but in my imagination, it is always a faded-but-was-once-bright floral carpet bag.
Really, the only thing I put Ketchup on anymore are hamburgers… love your goodies!
What do you mean favorite, I thought ketchup went on anything that didn’t move. Scrambled eggs, hot dogs, shrimp, fish and chips, ok maybe not PB&J.

Ketchup and I put it on just about anything. Being from the West, its also my go to base for fry sauce (ketchup, mayo, spices)

I don’t like catsup/ketchup so I don’t put it on anything! I do like mustard on my fries, but I try not to do it in public because people look at me weird . . .

It’s ketchup and on our house the kids out it on EVERYTHING!!! But my favorite thing to put ketchup on is a yummy grilled hot dog. 🙂

That prize looks lovely! Regarding ketchup (that’s what I call it even though I am pretty sure a lot of my family says catsup), I love it on onion rings and on French fries (with malt vinegar is the best).
I use it to make a sweet and sour chicken recipe. It is delicious. Also on bologna sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs. I call it Ketchup.

Ketchup and French fries
I like to spell it Ketchup. I usually only put ketchup on my french fries but I do like it occasionally mixed into my chili. I think I have an aversion to ketchup because my 2 boys (that are still at home) and my hubby drench their food in it. We usually go through 1 bottle a week, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, any chicken, roast beef, eggs. I think they have Ketchup running in their veins. Yuck!
Ketchup…and I love it on french fries and veggie burgers. And I like my steak dipped in ketchup too, but that usually just gets people to yell at me about ruining steak….I still like it…!
One of my favorite things to do with ketchup is to mix it with sriracha (a.k.a rooster sauce) and a little mayo, and serve it with fried cucumbers (no really, like fried pickles but still tasty!) or eggplant fries. SO good, and one of my all-time favorite summer cookout sides 🙂
Ketchup! And I’d prefer it on nothing ever, but I can tolerate it on burgers.

I pretty much only put ketchup on hamburgers and hotdogs (I know, sacriledge on hotdogs, but I like it). I hate ketchup on my fries. The only way my mom would get me to eat fish sticks as a kid, would be to smother them in ketchup. I think I still ended up throwing up once 🙂
I like it on french fries and just a touch of it on a (veggie) burger. I don’t really put it on anything else. I like to mix it with mustard for my fries. I spell it ketchup.

Not original, but my favorite thing for ketchup is definitely french fries!
Non-gross: I like it on French Fries (also very boring).
If you’re ready to be grossed out: I like it on pasta, ideally with grated cheddar cheese, but parmesan is acceptable too. I used to have this as a child, and it brings back childhood memories.
I spell it Ketchup.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, meat loaf….when I was little my mom would save McDonald’s ketchup packets and send them in my lunch box with a leftover meat loaf sandwich.
I spell it ketchup and my favorite kind is cucumber ketchup I make myself. We love it mixed with BBQ sauce and grilled on baby back ribs. Nothing better!!
