Favorite Colors This Week!

We’re having a busy week, getting ready for 130 Spring Flingers to descend upon St. Louis and The Loopy Ewe! In the midst of all that, I wanted to share my favorite colors of the week in a few photos:

The azalea bush in front of my house is blooming in all of it’s glory.

I’m still fondly remembering my coffee at my favorite coffee shop (Payne’s in Gas City, IN) where I spent a few hours with my favorite daughter last weekend.

And the front entry and front wall at Loopy Central have been splashed with a beautiful robin’s egg blue (thanks, Dad!) and it makes me smile every time I walk in. It used to be green like this, which I also liked. But I like this blue better. (And it’s a bit more aqua, not baby blue like it looks like in the photo. You ought to come see it in person.)

I’ll be back to blogging on Monday, to tell you all about the weekend. Right now – there are just a few more things to get done around here before we Fling….

  1. Blue sky and spring green and lovely pink hyacinths.
My favorite of all: the colors of the violets all over the yard.
I made violet flower jam last night-mmmmm. Tastes like spring!

  2. I’m wearing a shirt that “azalea fushia” color today. It’s counteracting the clouds we have. My favorite colors are purple and lime green, and I am not afraid to wear them together.

And I can’t wait to see the place in person! I keep telling people I’m going to my LYS in St. Louis.

  3. Pink and yellow! My kitchen window overlooks a newly landscaped lawn with stella d’oro daylilys, pink coneflowers, moonbeam coriopsis and flowering crabapple. All are not yet blooming but I wait with great anticipation. They prevailed over the long snowy winter. Yeh!

  4. That blue makes everything else just pop on that wall – very complimentary to the yarn colors – very, very pretty! My favorite colors depend on my moods. If I buy a yarn but am “not feeling that color” when ready to start a new project – I have to wait till another time to knit with it. Same way when getting ready for work – have to be in “a color mood” to wear a certain color that day. Don’t know why I am like that – but always been like that. Somehow the perfect right color just jumps out at me for a project or just to purchase for my stash 🙂 That being said – I am drawn to blues and greens and colors that remind me of times in my life or places I have been.

  5. Actually, I just love that aqua blue! I painted my whole bedroom that color and it’s so peaceful – like being underwater. 😀

I like most colors but aqua/turqoise is definitely my favorite.

  6. Sheri, Love the new color on your walls.

My favorite color is pink. Thank you for the wonderful photos of the azalea bush.
    See you soon.

  7. Yellow. Yellow tulips everywhere (accented by a few random red, purple, orange, and pink ones because I got the mixed bag and who knows what got planted where); yellow daffodils, yellow and white jonquils. Yellow is my favorite color period, and it’s ALL OVER MY FRONT YARD!!!! 😀 And still, I say to myself, I need more tulips.

  8. I love your new colors at TLE, wish I was coming with the Flingers. Coffee looks pretty good too. I painted my knitting space in robins egg blue and a light avocado (not dark 70’s) green – I think it is so restful and inviting.

  9. The red sideboard looks great against the robin’s egg blue!

Blue is my favorite color, and that’s a pretty blue!

    Wish I was Flinging ….

  10. Whatever colors Monet uses — these I like. He used that blue, I think.

I finish tutoring at 9 tonight then I either sleep or drive halfway depending on my alertness. I am leaning toward driving half way but the day is young yet. Counting sheep tonight will not induce the drowsies.

  11. My favorite color is red, but today it’s the two shades of pink (pale pink and hot pink) of my two crabapple trees which are blooming in my front yard. I figured out yesterday that they are the reason why I love pink/green yarn combos. 🙂

  12. Your Dad did a nice job. I bet you will think of him whenever you look at it.

Do you mind sharing the paint brand and color? If not, I understand.

  13. I am a yellow kinda gal so all shades of yellow will do me fine. We just came back from Austin, TX and the side of the road had such pretty wild flowers that I wish I had taken my camera. The Texas Bluebonnets were every where as were other yellowish and reddish flowers. Almost makes me want to say that the Bluebonnet color is my new favorite but not quite. Give me a daffodil or forsythia any day. Add in a sunflower or daisy or yellow snapdragon.

  14. Your azaleas are my all-time favorite color. That color has been my favorite since I was a little girl. When I see it I go all melty inside and it can provoke me to buy things I don’t need. I have a few shirts in that color, and might have bought them even if they didn’t fit becasue of the color, so thank goodness they do fit. I have never been sure what to call that color exactly, maybe deep rose or rosey fuschia?

I love the robin’s egg blue that you chose. I think it really looks great and so soothing (as if all that yarn wouldn’t be soothing enough!)

  15. My brain is fried so I keep coming up with a single color: black. Completely useless, because it is just the color of my latest pair of socks on the needles (and really, they are purple going almost dark enough to black).

I look forward to seeing your spring fling report!

  16. Light antique gold, white and lilac – I saw them in an Elizabethan period costume recently, and can’t get that combination out of my mind.

  17. Sheri- Just love the blue walls they look great. That’s just the color of blue I’ve been looking for – in yarn that is- for a sweater for swimming daughter. At present it’s her favorite color. That and for some reason coral. Got the coral sweater finished but still looking for just the right blue. Wouldn’t happen to know where I could find some would you?
My favorite color is yellow, always has been but I have to admit peach runs a close second. The first apartment we moved into after my husband and I were married where the landlord would actually let me paint the walls I went a little crazy and painted every room yellow until my husband finally said “enough with the yellow”. Of course I can’t say I blame him It was his office after all.
Can’t wait to hear all about Spring Fling. Went through some of your old posts til I found out what it was all about. Looks like fun. So hope you have lots of fun yourself this week-end.

  18. The color of the redbud trees that grow wild in Virginia is glorious. Over the top but lacy sort of fuschia against pale green leaves. Put one next to the white flowering dogwoods and it’s breathtaking. Somehow I don’t think it would work in a house though.

  19. I thought The Loopy Ewe was adorable when I visited before, but I’m sure it’s really nice to feel spruced up and bright — and that is a very pretty color. I am finishing a kid slique shawl in aqua “marina” that I got off your sale bin–it’s a beautiful color. I hope I find something just right to wear it to/with. Historically, my favorite color is navy but right now and every spring, I am thankful for green. Every year I thank God He let me see another spring and beautiful greens, yellows, purples as I drive to work. Spring Fling sounds like a lot of fun–do you have to be a Very Good Knitter to attend?

  20. I am working on a pair of ORANGE socks…whoohoo!!! Have a great weekend…
coming in for the Ky Derby this Saturday…wish I had time to shop at Loopy…that will
have to wait till the fall when we retire & come back there for 2 months
    to visit..Can’t wait, can’t wait….

  21. Love the new blue wall–will miss seeing it this year but maybe next year. My favorite color this week is Pompeii Purple which is the color of my toenail polish. It’s really fuschia IMHO. I’ll be knitting my plain vanilla socks of Perfect Day Yarns and remembering Flings past with some other Fling alumni on FB. Will miss everybody…y’all have fun.

  22. Love your azalea bush! Mine are in their full glory too! The leaves are popping out the grass is growing like crazy and spring is here at long last. The blue is beautiful, maybe someday I can see it in person. Have a wonderful weekend with everyone! Sure wish I could be there…

  23. Love the pink azaleas, love that blue wall (it really does make all the other colors pop); right now I’m loving one of the trees blooming in our yard—no idea what it is, but every spring we get these intense coral flowers for a couple of weeks.

Have a wonderful Fling—wish I could be there! (Some year I will!)

  24. If the sock yarn in my stash is any indication – green is my favourite colour! But right now the blue of the scillas that are just peeking through the ground (we are way behind you obviously, bloomwise) are really giving me a lift.
Love your Dad’s paint job. Do Loopy and the words come off while he paints or did he have to work around them. And. if he did – what a painter!
Hope you all have a great Fling! Some year I’ll be there, I promise myself!

  25. Love the blue on the walls! How’d you get the quotation back up there so neatly?

I’ve got to get my sample of green paint on the wall in my apartment so I can figure out if it’s the right shade for a living room wall. I’ve used solid colors in rooms before, but just doing one wall is something new for me. 🙂

Have fun at the Spring Fling!

    Cheers!

  26. The love the blue wall colour! Have fun at the fling, look forward to reading about it on Monday! 🙂

  27. My snazzy red coffeemaker and blender…the burgundy transforming into white-pink yarn I’m knitting with…green, anything green…my turquoise toenails (the bottle says “Marine Scene”, but I say it’s turquoise). 🙂

  28. Hope you have a great Fling-I remember how excited I was when I arrived at the hotel for that first Fling and saw all those wonderful knitters sitting in the lobby knitting. Getting to meet you and DH and the fun classes …..

Wish you and all the Flingers as good a time as I had.

  29. For some reason, lately I have been drawn to anything bright yellow. This is about the oddest thing ever as I was always one of those girls who wore lots of black. Now I have yellow socks, a yellow skirt, yellow nail polish. Maybe a teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini is in order? Or some yellow yarn….

  30. Your azaleas are gorgeous, Sheri! I really missed the usually gorgeous azaleas while watching the Masters Golf Tournament this year. I only saw like one bush this year, so I was really sad. (I watch that tournament, in a large part, to see the beautiful azaleas). Thank you for sharing! I love your new wall color: it’s gorgeous! Those two colors really make me happy! 🙂
