I love our 2010 “Loved by Loopy” Valentine Kit. I saved myself one because I fell in love with the yarn (and of course I have always loved Keri’s bags). I’m not sure if I’ll knit socks or a scarf with it. Wouldn’t it make a pretty scarf? What are you favorite scarf patterns for fingering weight yarns?
We had fun putting this kit together for you and we hope you like it, too. Due to the handmade nature of the bags, we aren’t able to offer any more of these kits, once they sell out. (Edit: now sold out. But watch for our Anniversary Kit this summer!) And speaking of the bags, the thing I love about Keri’s bags is that she does excellent work. I’m pretty picky about the way things look and are put together, and she even exceeds my pickiness! She made 250 bags for us, and the last one looks just as awesome as the first.
The kit comes with a skein ofย Fiesta Baby Boom in a colorway that they dyed up just for us, called “Chocolate Strawberry Ganache”. Baby Boom continues to be one of my favorite yarns for squishy bouncy softness, and I’m glad that Jeannie and Brad were game for dyeing up our Valentine colorway this year. Since we called the kit “Loved by Loopy”, we added a little sticky-note packet for your knitting bag with that title on it. (I use sticky notes by the bucket full when I’m knitting – marking my place, making notes, highlighting areas – am I alone in that?)
Now I’m off to help get these kits out. Tell me what scarf or sock pattern you think you’ll use, so I have some choices to contemplate while I work.

I got one! ๐ Happy Valentine’s Day to me!
beyond gorgeousness….
Somehow I resisted and got just some tools I needed. But that bag is ADORABLE!
I was just thinking about what pattern to use and what about the Lacy Rib Sock pattern from Wendy’s “Socks from the Toe Up” book? Her patterns are so well written and it should be great for the colorway.
Alas, I cannot get a kit this year. The finances are so tight they squeak and I cannot justify a $48+ purchase. It’s absolutely beautiful, though. I wish, I wish, I wish.(sigh)
I gotta get a better job, that’s all there is to it. The good news is that I am back to knitting socks again after a hiatus of a few months, so I am eating up some of my stash.
Love the kit! But I wish the price included shipping too – just a little too expensive for me ๐
I just love the ‘”Berdien’s Boxes” scarf pattern from Myrna Stahman’s book of shawls and scarves. Not sure how it would work up in a sock weight yarn, I knit one in worsted single ply yarn, but there are so many other scarf patterns to choose from in that book, you can’t go wrong. Maybe “Alberta,” “Alka” or “Barbara” for a lacier look.
I got one too! Happy Valentine Day to me from my mom.
I got one!
I like Yarn Harlot’s One Row Scarf with #6 needle. A nice easy pattern and it comes out just a little lacy with the larger needle and thin yarn – no YOs necessary! http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2006/10/12/one_row_handspun_scarf.html
Scarves I have made that I love:
Rav has a pattern, an improvement on the YH One Row that adds a stitch. It does work up a bit smoother. I am doing a Jojoland cashmere lace scarf using that. It looks like a lot more work than it is.
I am a sucker for the simple drop-stitch scarf-knit a row, YO a row, drop a row. I have made those for me and as gifts. Interesting and easy to wash/block.
In crochet, I love a “net”, just triple crochet, skip one, tc, skip. It lines up like netting but hangs well. I did a silk Colinette that looks great.
The Fiesta yarn is so colorful, I think the simpler the better.
Thanks for the kit! Love it already!
The kit is gorgeous! I think I’ll do a scarf with mine, I just need to decide on which pattern from my huge list of patterns I’d like to knit someday. ๐
Got one! Been wanting to try BB so thought this would be a good chance. I’m thinking feather and fan, but won’t know for sure till I see it and play with it. Thanks Sheri!
The Gaia Shoulder Hug for sure. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry. I made mine with Misty Alpaca sock in forest color and it is beautiful.
Love the Lace Ribbon scarf from Knitty, but you’ll probably need two skeins (if the on pictured is “standard” enough to make two socks.
I think your Valentine kit is beautiful. Unfortunately, at this time I cannot buy one
because I don’t know if I could finish it with all the other things that I am making
and frogging. I just made two scarves in December for my granddaughters.
They were spiral scarves and the colors keep changing. However, I’m sorry
I don’t remember the pattern and cannot go digging to find it. I’m sure you
will come out with a beautiful scarf or socks if you choose.
Happy Valentine’s Day to me…thanks Sheri and Elves! ๐ I’m currently knitting the Jojoland cashmere lace scarf and love it! It’s challenging enough so I don’t get bored, but it isn’t hard. Of course, feather and fan is always a fun choice, but I’m wondering how this yarn would look in either the Multnomah or Travelining Woman shawl patterns – both of which totally have me hooked on shawl knitting! ๐
thinking of another pair of Monkey Socks (toe up of course)
I just found Loopy Ewe and ordered the Valentine Kit. I’m so excited.
Thank you!
Loved by Loopy kits are adorable ๐
Have you ever tried Highlighter tape from an office supply place instead of sticky notes? It’s so much better for reading charts, marking places, etc. Sticks better than sticky notes too! I get mine from Amazon (there are some online knitting places which-shall-not-be-named that have the tape, but it’s of a much poorer quality).
Can’t wait to here what your choice is for the sweater challenge…
Oh! and… favorite scarf for fingering weight is Knitty’s Lace Ribbon.
But I’ve still addicted to shawls…
The Valentine kit is so yummy. Dh is paying for it, so that’s even better.
I’ll probably do a scarf out of the yarn. One of Anne Hanson’s patterns. Love all of her patterns. It’ll be tough to choose.
You did good picking on the bag, the yarn and the post-its, Sheri. Great gift.
I’m using the Reflection in Fiesta Baby Boom I bought from Loopy to make the #334S Susan Undulating Waves Scarf which you can purchase for $4 on Ravelry. I bought some turquoise beads (size 6) beads for it too. I have to wait until the Ravelympics are over though!
I, too, should buy stock in Post-It notes. ๐ I keep finding little stashes of sticky notes salted around the house. You never know when a packet of sticky notes will pop up!
I can’t believe that I missed out! Boo Hoo!! Is it possible to get some of the beautifully dyed yarn?
Wow! That one flew by me! Didn’t even know they were up. Well, that’s what I get for being Facebook Challenged. I still look to the Blog for info. Cute kit! Got too many things going on now, so I’ll console myself with that. ๐
But … Stitches West is approaching!!!!!!! Yarn Market, here I come!!
Cheers!
I am so frustrated! I was stuck in meetings all day and did not get one ๐ But at least I can look forward to my February Sock Club goodies ๐
You would have a good laugh today, Sheri watching me try to order my pretty Valentine kit as I was going through the drive-thru window at Chick-Fila!! I knew they would be sold out before I got home…so here I was putting in my order on my phone and trying to collect my lunch at the same time!! Oh what a beautiful bag/yarn and post its!! You know how to spoil us and we love it!
I’ve been checking every day! I can’t believe I missed it! It’s beautiful!
I’m going to pout for a while . . .
Ordered my kit yesterday, got the blog update this morning.
I missed the kit, which is too bad. That bag is super amazing.
I think for a fingering weight scarf I would just do a few repeats of the Feather and Fan pattern and keep going until I hit the halfway-ish point and then do another one and graft them together.
Sheri, you and the Elves must be EXHAUSTED! First the Numma Numma stampede on Monday, and then the Valentine’s Day kit on Wednesday!
Thanks again for all you do to bring so much fun and excitement to all of us knitters/crocheters! Can’t wait for the anniversary kit next!
(And give WebGuy a big hug – the website continues to amaze!)
What a beautiful kit, Sheri! Can’t o it this year (have to find a way to pay for the new roof first) but I do wish that I could. I adore that yarn colorway, it sings to me! I’m sure we’ll be seeing some great projects made out of it.
Ooops. I must have blinked! Missed it…will there be more?
Darn. ๐ Was having a bad day, and stuck it in my cart to wait until I was less tantrum-filled. By the time I got back, it was gone. Phooey. Any chance the sticky notes will be offered separately? Or something similar?
I got one!!! My friend Deb gave me a call and told me the kits were up and I hurried in to the computer. I am thinking, because I just love to show this yarn off maybe one of the new one skein shawlette by Wendy ove at Wendyknits.com. She is just whipping them out so quickly.
I love the baby boom so much I have chosen it for the sweater knit along in the quince colour way.
Anne Hansen’s “Gust” is a beautiful scarf in fingering weight yarn. I made one from Tempted’s Emergency, a light to dark shade of pink and it turned out just beautiful!!Although I missed the kit, I love seeing the pictures of the contents. Can hardly wait to see what you all do with the yarn!!
Wow! This stuff is soooooo wonderful I don’t know how the elves managed to let it leave the shop–I think that 250 skeins would have had me rolling around in it like it was a therapy pool! Of course, the name makes me want to eat it, so I may have a “fur ball” problem! Guess I need some of the Cameron’s Chocolate Brownie coffee to drink while I knit up this yarn!!
It is lovely, and I am trying to think of just the perfect pattern!
I can’t stand it! I was in the store Friday and that was the ONLY day I didn’t check the web site for the Valentine kit. I missed it and I wanted to do it so much! I hope I can get one next time….
I love this kit! I can’t wait until the new anniversary kit comes out this summer. I’ll have to stalk the site starting in May just to make sure I get one.
I think I’ll knit up a sock pattern with the yarn from the Valentine kit. I’m thinking of doing cookie a.’s “Ellington” or Yarnissima’s “Brainless.” I’d like to use them for a ravelympics entry for Team Loopy.
