Remember when I showed you that pretty Alchemy Juniper sock last week, knit up with a fun pattern out of Carol’s book (which I love)? At that point, I could’ve cast on the second sock and been done with a pair, OR I could’ve started a brand new sock with another line of yarn. Knowing me (as you do), which option do you think I chose? Right. I started a whole new sock. The result is this Madelinetosh Sock out of Plum Tree, which is one of the colors that I immediately pulled for my own stash when this shipment came in a couple of weeks ago. And because I needed a no-brainer pattern so that I could knit and watch the Olympics at the same time, I used that same Braided Gem pattern that I had used on the Alchemy. (See? I told I could’ve had the pair done. Single Socks are a choice, and I’m glad to make them.) I love how the colorway stripes – bigger stripes on the foot, where half of the sock is plain stockinette, and smaller stripes up the cuff, where the pattern goes all the way around. So fun.
We added new things to the site tonight – come take a look! We put up:
Huckleberry Knits Willow (the BFL base. This is the colorway/line that I went on the hunt for at Sock Summit! Here’s the sock that I knit with the Mercado colorway)
Hand Maiden Swiss Mountain Sea Sock (one of my very favorite yarn bases from them. So luscious!)
Numma Numma Toasty (Allen sent us a big order with all of our favorite colors)
Perchance to Knit (restocked the Midnight Rainbow/Harlot’s Peacock in small and large skeins)
Soak in the new “Unleash” scent (celebrating Ravlery)
Shibui Sock (re-stock)
Through the Loops patterns (new and re-stocked)
We’re already working on things for next week. I’m happy that one of the new accessory lines that I ordered at TNNA has arrived. You’ll love it. We’ll get it photo-ed and up for you next Monday.
I did my monthly “80+ lbs. of chocolate kisses” shopping at Sams today, and had no less than 9 people make comments about it as I wheeled the cart by them. Surely I’m not the only person at Sams who buys 24 of the 56 oz. packages of Hershey’s kisses at a time, right? FPS. I know there are a bunch of chocolate lovers out there.

That’sjustthewayitgoes.
I’m happy–even if I am here at work…because I got some of my favorite yarn..NUMMA NUMMA!! YEAH!
I was going to be “good” tonight, but somehow I managed to place 3 orders. Frosting in NN jumped out of my cart. I shouldn’t have dawlded. But I have plenty coming my way to keep me busy. NN is irresistable. Even had to buy another set of size 6 needles since it seems every shawl pattern I pick up needs 6s.
Jorgie says it would be cheaper if I just bought the 24 boxes of Hershey’s Kisses instead of placing so many orders. But it wouldn’t be fun and I wouldn’t have all of my lovely yarn.
Sheri you made me laugh!!! You’re so right, who can only eat just one kiss? Definitely not me LOL!!!!!
H loves the kisses! Keep ’em coming.
When my latest Loopy package appeared on the porch last Saturday, my 5 year old ran up, picked it up and shouted “My chocolate kisses are here!”
lol at the chocolate, usually when i see yummy things in peoples carts and they look more fun than my carts… i just ask if i can follow them home! Now, if you had choc and red wine…….. yes!
That was crazy fun trying to get the NN yarn tonight. I was able to get the yarn my friend asked me to order, but got none of my favorites. :-{ Maybe next time.
I just want you to know that I’m surviving my diet because of the occasional little package of Hershey’s kisses that have shown up in my house!!! The one today came at a perfect time.
Sheri, I have a question for you. What sock pattern did you use for the Huckleberry Knits Mercado yarn? I don’t recognize it. Thanks.
Doing my Numma Numma Happy Dance! 🙂 BFF Liz snagged some for me since I was out of pocket for stalking.
And no, I do not find it at all odd that you’d be getting that much chocolate. Makes perfect sense to me.
I love those kisses! Have you tried the dark? Yummy!
I did the same thing with my current 2 pair of socks! I knit one of each pattern, and then went back to knit the mates. It tends to reduce the feeling that I’m just slogging through the second sock, eager to get it over with. Of course, it would not work for me at all if I were still convinced that I could remember all the changes I made to the first sock when I knit the second. A little knit journal is essential (for forgetful me, anyway). Today I will be trying to resist that Handmaiden Swiss Mountain Sea Sock. Probably failing.
Gosh – I’m feeling diabetic just thinking about all of that chocolate!!! 🙂
It is always interesting to buy lots of chocolate. When I was in Germany for business, once, I went to a local market (sort of a mini-grocery) and bought huge amounts of chocolate to take home as gifts for friends and family. The woman at the register didn’t speak English, but she made a lot of comments which I could only take as negative due to tone and expression. I said, “No Duetsch, sorry.” Another woman in line said, “She’s telling you that you’re going to have to go to the bathroom a lot.” I laughed and said, “It isn’t for me! Really!”
Happy Knitting,
Lisa Kay
Hope you got some peppermints for the minority of us that don’t go wild for chocolate (unless it’s white chocolate!!)??
Surely Hershey’s could give you a better wholesale deal than Sam’s? Maybe not. But it seems like for that quantity….and I vote for some dark kisses too!
Nice socks!
Wow. That’s some gorgeous stuff that you’ve just added in.
I’m working on a sweater right now and I’m on skein 4 (which means by my math that I should be able to add two skeins of sock yarn to my inventory). It’s shopping time!
Love that Plum Tree sock.
I love to shop at Sam’s every so often. You find the most interesting packages of things. 🙂
My DH buys bags of kisses at Sam’s, but not that many. He’s there every couple of days. He(or his staff) gives a kiss to every customer at his coffee shop.
Boo-Hoo!!!!!
I am sooo sad, because I cannot find a server connection that I must need in order to get TLE up–at least I get Sheri’s Blog with all the cool recipes!!!! And news of yummy chocolate kisses, which I won’t be able to get because I cannot get an order in!!!!
Crying a river in Wisconsin!

My 3 yr old son recognizes the loopy box when it comes in the mail. He has to open up the box so he can get the chocolates!
I had this craving for a grilled cheese for lunch and couldn’t figure out why until I remembered your recipe. I didn’t have the variety of cheeses but I did do the parmesan crust – so good! Thanks for the idea!
The new socks are beautiful (and I like your attitude about single socks)!
OMG!!! Thanks for the shout-out!! I am truly honored.

I love your walk to work — wish I could join you on the walk – it’s always fun to walk with someone!
I’m an audiologist at Sam’s (yes, some Sam’s now have Hearing Centers and sell hearing aids). Trust me when I say, “you are not the only one to purchase 80 pounds of chocolate at a time!” The one I haven’t figured out is the elderly man who purchased 10 large tubs of “Smart Balance” spread. No one could eat that much spread before it expires!
What is the pattern you used for the Huckleberry Knits Willow Mercado colorway socks? I really love this sock. Thanks.
