Spring Fling Signups Are Ready!

group shotI know that many of you have been waiting for this. I think the emails started right after our 2009 Spring Fling, and it’s finally time for signups for the 2010 version. But first, some details and a plea. Here’s the plea: please check out vacation time from work, airline prices, and any other details that need to be figured out in order for this to work for you, before signing up. Last year, we had about a dozen people cancel within a week of finding out they had a spot because of flight prices or work issues or other such things. Make sure it’s feasible for you to use the spot, before signing up to get one. (We do understand emergencies that crop up at the last minute. That’s why we also assign a waiting list by lottery – to hopefully fill in those vacancies.)

DSC02537Now the fun details for our Third Annual Loopy Ewe Spring Fling:

Dates: Thursday – Sunday, April 22-25, 2010

Location: Sheraton Westport in St. Louis

Guest Instructors: Wendy Johnson (Wendy Knits), Anne Hanson (Knitspot), Jared Flood (Brooklyn Tweed), and Gryphon Perkins (The Sanguine Gryphon). And of course Claudia (the Wollmeise) and her friends Dani and Maria are planning to be back with us again. They’re not teaching classes, but I know that many of you look forward to visiting with them each year!

Your weekend includes: Dessert Reception Thursday night, breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, hotel room, goodie bag, trip to Loopy Central, one class (with more available for an additional fee), and two knitting lounges with snacks and beverages provided throughout the day on Friday and Saturday. (We’ll also have a separate knitting area on Thursday as people arrive, and Sunday as people depart.)

Cost: $525 for a double room, $695 for a single room. ($100 non-refundable deposit will be due by 1/31, and the balance is due by March 15th. We will set it up so that you can pay in increments each month, or pay the whole thing as you wish.) We are unable to offer day-passes or options without the hotel stay, as our prices from the hotel are figured on the number of hotel rooms being used for the weekend, and we max out our class and lounge space with Fling attendees.

You’ll be able to choose classes and room-mates after we have generated our list of attendees and when it gets closer to the Fling. We’ll send you an email when it’s time to sign up for those.

We’ll leave signups up for a week (click here to sign up) and then we will send out emails with lottery results before 12/21. We have 125 spots this year. Note – we also generate waiting lists by lottery, in case of last minute cancellations. We’ll let you know if you’re on a waiting list when the emails go out about the spots.

  1. I wish I could come, but the AQS show in Paducah is the same week (as always). May I suggest that for 2011, when Easter is on April 24, that you schedule Spring Fling BEFORE Easter, so I can come and still go to the AQS show afterwards? Thanks for thinking of us quilter/knitters!

  2. I’m not going…something about teaching makes spring travel impossible. However, I do hope that everyong who does go has a wonderful time and reports back!

  3. I’m SO excited. I just signed up. Fingers and toes now crossed. I told my dh that he was taking me to St. Louis in the spring if I get in. He’s a lot less enthusiastic than I am. But I’ve promised him all kinds of side trips (the Arch, a riverboat, the elementary school I went to when I lived in St. Louis for a year.) I mean, what more incentive does he need. And if he doesn’t get on board with the plan (and I get in), I’ll find some way to cheer him up (or muzzle him). It’s all good.

Thank you so much, Sheri, for allowing more spots this year. I feel my chances have grown exponentially : )))))

  4. Hopefully, there will be cupcakes on Thursday too πŸ™‚ I’m really excited about all of the teachers esp. the new ones and have my fingers crossed for another trip to the Spring Fling. Good luck to everyone!

  5. I’m so excited to see this post and I’m so hoping to come back again this year to spend a weekend with the best people EVER!!!!!! I hope my bed is ready at Loopy Central again πŸ™‚

  6. I hope I get… I hope I get it…..

… Try Try Try again… lolllll

    I think I can… I think I can… I think I can…

    chug chug chug chuggggg

  7. All signed up – fingers tightly crossed for luck for a three-peat. I already told my boss I was signing up, and he wished me luck!!!

What an amazing list of talent you have signed up to teach!!! Each year it just gets better and better.

(fingers and toes crossed, legs and arms crossed – who needs to work? πŸ™‚ )

  8. All I want for Christmas is to get chosen to go to Spring Fling… who cares about those two front teeth!! I’m really looking forward to (if I get chosen) a 16 hour drive from northern Ontario!! Road Trip!!!! I hope, I hope, I hope!!!

  9. Wow! Jared Flood is teaching!! I’d so love to have a class with him. He’s brilliant.

I’m so bummed I cannot throw my name into the lottery this year. I had such a great time at the Fling last year. The dates for this year’s Fling conflict with travel plans my DH and I already have to celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary (he wasn’t wild about my idea of ditching him at the end of our trip to go to St. Louis to knit).

I know this year’s Fling will be great, and I hope that those who get a spot enjoy every minute of it. I hope to make it to another one in the future!

  10. OMG! I must be psycho! I just emailed my pal/roommate Pat and asked her to let me know the second she sees the sign-up. Then I saw it! KARMA. Does Karma help to make a 3-peat? HMMM…….

  11. Even if I can’t go, it’s always so fun to hear about it.

Maybe next year, but in the meantime, good luck to everyone who wants to go, and be sure to report back!

  12. YAYNESS! I am so glad the lottery is open now, and I’ll be biting my nails until notifications go out. Hoping to see you guys again this year!!!

  13. Just emailed the DH – Spring Fling is what I want for Christmas and 50th birthday (first I had to explain that it’s not an actual FLING I’m asking for).

  14. Dang, I have long weekends both the weekend before and the weekend after. There’s no way I can do three in a row. Bummmer!!!

  15. Oh goodie!!!!! I am signed up. I hope the fling fairies are on my side this year.
Fingers and toes crossed. Thanks Kristi, for the heads up. Hope for all of us to get in again. N

  16. Oi, I’m going to a wedding! (In St. Thomas, so not all bad), but I’m so jealous!

Maybe next year for my birthday?

  17. Thanks Sheri for doing it again!

I am very excited about all the teachers. Wendy & Anne are wonderful teachers. Hoping to try Jared and SG this year.

Trying to decide which cupcakes I want.

    Fingers crossed!

  18. I have a question about spouses….mine would probably want to come with, but not participate, would I have to get a single? I know if someone else was going, I wouldn’t mind sharing a room with another couple! Or if we had to get a single, would we have to pay extra?

  19. I’m excited to see the teachers that will be in town, and I can’t wait for friends to come in to attend, but I’m disappointed that you can’t offer a hotel-less option. I only live 15 minutes away which is too close to justify spending the extra amount on a hotel room. That’s 4 months yarn budget for me!

  20. i would so love to attend, just don’t see it happening! especially as it is my birthday weekend… such great designers!!! have a blast everyone! (ok, maybe i’ll go price out flights…)

  21. Booooo! I wish I could sign up again since I had *Such* a lovely time last year! Unfortunately, my husband will either be in training/moving or deploying to Afghanistan the following month and I’ll want to spend time with him.

Oh well, I’ll just have to try for the sock club and spend money and pretend I’m there!! πŸ˜€

  22. I so wish I could enter the lottery. There are some of my favorite instructors going to be there, drats.

My mare is due to foal on April 22nd and I can’t leave. Foaling is exciting and nerv-wracking for me. It is a double edged sword since I want to do both. Next year I will plan better. But I hope everyone who goes has a great time.

  23. I can’t attend this year, but hopefully will be stopping in St. Louis as part of our summer vacation! I already told DH that I want to shop at Loopy Central!

  24. I’m sad that there isn’t a no-hotel option for sign ups, but that makes sense with the hotel meeting space pricing. I moved to St. Louis this summer for work and had in the back of my mind that I would be able to sign up for Spring Fling without having to fly! Have fun!

  25. I’ve signed up and hope to get in. This is THE event that it’s worth travel from the “old” world to. I’ll enjoy the full 9 hours flight from A’dam in anticipation of all the spring fling fun

  26. I was there…. I swear!! …. I’m still sad that I didn’t make the group photo!! ;(

I’m totally there… too much fun was had!
I just want to be there to see Jaci step into Loopy Central again… Love ya lady!
    I’ll bring the tissues!

  27. OK- I just got home from a 3 day stay in hospital for surgery- This will be my gift to me for surviving the surgery!-Please let me win the lottery!!

  28. I was so excited when I first learned of the Spring Fling; so excited, in fact, that I think I probably signed up(accidentally, of course)more than once. But, as you suggested, I did check my work schedule and will not be able to take time off at that time of year. I’m disappointed; but my bank account heaved a sigh of relief! So please remove my name(s) from the lottery list. Everyone will have a great time. Thanks!
