Time to break out the decorations. Almost.

DSC01391.JPGWhat do you think of the holiday music playing in stores already? I have the firm belief that nothing like that ought to go on until after Thanksgiving. Why rush the season? It makes me shop faster and get out of that store when I hear it too early. That didn’t, however, stop me from putting this wonderful pillow out in the red cabinet in our entrance. My sweet friend Jari made it for us and we will keep it up year-round. It just looks too cute there. (Did you notice that the middle sheep button has red feet? Hee!) Jari is the mother of Indiana Guy, who rooms with my College Guy. It always amazes me how you sometimes get wonderful friends from your kids friends parents. (That was a full sentence.) And she’s a knitter, too. Pretty cool, huh?

So today I thought I’d share the things that we have going up next week, as well as some new lines that will be coming in within the next few weeks.

Next week’s Sneak Up will include: Chewy Spaghetti Fingering Weight, Gypsy Knits, Yarn Love in their new yarn base (it has silk in it and feels incredible), the rest of the Colinette Jitterbug colors, new line from bellamoden, a new batch from Lime & Violet, Sea Silk from Handmaiden, a full re-stock of Dream in Color Smooshy, and five more colors of the Wollmeise Lace (since the post office decided that I could have that big case of yarn after all.) You’ll also find a brand new colorway from Cherry Tree Hill called Caribou Creek (eggplant, slate blue and dark olive – it’s gorgeous). This colorway will be seen in other shops soon, but once again (as with the Cherry Blossom a few weeks ago), Cheryl at Cherry Tree is letting us debut it to all of you first! We also have new sizes of Addi needles, new lace stitchmarkers from Entrelac, and gorgeous darning eggs, hand-made out of wood from a Holly tree (with more eggs out of other woods, coming in the future.) I’ll also be adding the Summer and Fall patterns from our Seasonal Sock Club (under the Wildhorse Farm Designs section.)

Today, I re-stocked a bunch of Trekking, Sockina Cotton, and Austermann Step – I know you all love these lines.

In the coming weeks, we have orders coming from: Hill Country Yarns, Araucania Ranco, Rio De La Plata, Noro Sock Yarn, and new indie dyer Tempted Yarns, as well as roving coming from a few different dyers and a few other surprises. (And of course all of our regular yarns are on re-order – Schaefer Heather, Anne and Lola just arrived, as well as expecting a large order of the new Handmaiden yarn, Casbah, which should arrive soon, and more of their Mini Maiden which is on the way already.) Oh, and some really fun accessories in December, including more pins by Romi, as well as her beautiful silver yarn ball earrings – I’m anxious for them to arrive!

So now you’re almost up-to-date on things going on around here. We always like to keep a FEW things a secret!

For those celebrating Thanksgiving this week, I want to wish you a happy day full of lots of fun, family, good memories and good food. When we count our blessings this week, all of YOU are on that list. We appreciate you and your business and friendships so much.

Hugs, Sheri nowI’mofftoknit.spin.knit.spin-heck,Ican’tdecide…..

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I think it’s safe to say that I speak for many of us when I say we appreciate you for enabling us all so well!! πŸ™‚

  2. Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks again for running such a neat shop with such great service. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
(PS – I feel the same about the Christmas music in the stores. I haven’t been shopping lately because of it. The worst is the STUPID jewelry store commercials from now through Valentine’s. Gimme a break, and thank the tech gods for TiVo!)

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well as the Loopy Elves and their families! I just love the Loopy pillow – so cute! : )

  4. Eeeee, you’re getting Noro sock!!! πŸ˜€ How exciting!

Happy Thanksgiving, Sheri, and have an extra piece of pie this year…you deserve it! πŸ™‚

  5. Happy Turkey Day to all the Loopy Staff and Family!

I’m with you on the whole no Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving. If this keeps up we will be hearing holiday music in July. ARGH!

  6. I totally agree about the Christmas/winter holiday music – way too soon! Possibly seems more so to me since we don’t celebrate Christmas. (We’re Jewish. And if they’re that determined to play holiday music, I’d really appreciate an occasional Chanukah song in the mix!) Can’t wait to see some of the new yarns. Not that my stash is lacking, & I certainly haven’t been depriving myself (as Sheri, Susan, & the Loopy Elves know), but I could say that I’m just buying Chanukah presents for myself over the next few weeks!
Love the pillow! …Some of my closest friends are the moms of some of my daughter’s friends, except with us it happened in reverse. We’re all single adoptive moms, & 4 of the 5 kids are the same age. (The 5th is about 2 yrs younger & gets along fine with the others.) We’ve known each other since they were in the toddler/pre-school age range, & now they’re all in high school, so they’ve grown up together.
I add my thanks for Sheri & TLE & staff to the previous commenters!
Enjoy CG’s visit home & have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  7. We have a radio station here that has been playing nothing but Christmas music since October. I love Christmas music but that is a bit much.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!

  8. Woohoo! How exciting!

Christmas songs? Can’t help you there, but I hate the christmas commercials and the displays and the pushy salvation army bell ringers…..

  9. I LOVE the Fleece Navidad pillow!! It is too cute! And the sheep buttons on it are perfect! Sounds like a mega sneak up next week! I hope the elves are getting lots of rest this week! I can’t wait for roving to come in! My wheel should be here by then! Happy Thanksgiving to the whole Loopy Family!!

  10. I want to wish you and your family and EXTENDED Loopy family a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Remember to save a little turkey for Gracie and Zoe. My Siamese, Truffles, anticipates all day and the close dinner time gets the worse she gets at “being cute”!!

  11. Happy Thanksgiving Sheri, KD, Web Guy, WH and All the Loopy Elves. I don’t like Christmas music before Thanksgiving either (though I have been known to listen to it sometimes in July when I am really hot. LOL. I think you should spin.

  12. I loathe hearing/seeing Christmas stuff out (and the holiday commercials on-air) before Friday. But I know Corporate America doesn’t care what I think. They’ll start before Halloween anyway.

Oh well. I’m off to see Avenue Q tonight, so I don’t really care! πŸ™‚ Happy Turkey! I’m quite thankful for TLE!!!

  13. Yes, yes, happy Thanksgiving to the Loopy Family and to all of you readers, as well. I know I have a lot of yarn lovelines to be thankful for right now.

I was happy to read that you are getting the lace stitch markers from Entrelac. I’ve been using them since she first started (bought them right off her at the LYS!) and I have to say they are just the BEST lightweight markers. And so decorative.

You have quite the tempting line-up on the way, so send vibes that a new job comes my way to replace the contract that is unexpectedly ending at the holiday time, so I can get some goodies!

  14. I love Christmas all year long. I start knitting for it in January of the next year and
I’m Jewish. My children, however, are not. I play Christmas music whenever I feel
like it and just ordered John Groban latest Christmas CD. I love your pillow.
I hope you, your family, and you loopy helpers have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Eat a little extra
    for me.

  15. So many goodies coming to Loopy Ewe!!! Very exciting, indeed. Regarding the spinning/knitting this Thanksgiving, just take turns πŸ™‚ do a little of one and then a little of the other.

  16. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone Loopy!
I must admit that I put a Christmas CD on in my car today, I love Christmas music!
Next weeks sneak up sounds awesome, hope I can behave. The new Cherry Tree Hill Caribou Creek is absolutely beautiful. I managed to get my hands on a skein of it early, but I had to work really hard for it… Those Cherry Tree Hill people are super nice.

  17. I’m with you on the Holiday music … what is the rush. So tell us more about the Noro sock yarn. That’s going to be hard to resist. Also, please do share more info on Gracie’s tail. Was it the angle of the photo or does she have the longest cat tail ever:-)?

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  18. Just want to say that I’m thankful for you, too! Why be different than anyone else here? πŸ˜‰ I love ya..and on the other hand, you’re an enabler. (groan!!) I’m dying for that CTH Caribou, Handmaiden Casbah and the regular Wollmeise. I just hope I’m lucky enough to get it. If not, I have PLENTY to keep me busy until it comes up again. Thank you SO much, Sheri for a fabulous, fun and a productive year.

  19. Araucania Ranco is wonderful! So glad to hear you’re carrying it. It’s one of those yarns that looks better in real life than in a photograph. It’s breathtaking yarn when wound up!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  20. i left a store the other day a bit put off because the music was on…and it was SO loud! jeez…let us get through Thanksgiving. My son (almost 5) is talking to me multiple times a day about putting the tree up. I’m just not ready yet!

Thanks so much for the wonderful shop and such wonderful, personal service. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all in the Loopy family!

  21. Ah, too much stuff! I get overwhelmed! But it’s fun to look πŸ˜€

I love Christmas music, I’m fine with it playing as long as it’s not too early, the week of Thanksgiving works for me. πŸ˜‰ What I hate is seeing Christmas items/decorations/music the day after Halloween.

  22. I’m so with you on the Christmas music, Sheri. Some of the stores here had Christmas stuff up before Halloween–please! After Thanksgiving is time enough.

Wishing you and your family and everyone in Loopyland a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hope you’ll be able to fit in a little knitting/spinning along with all the cooking/eating!

  23. Some of my crazy neighbors are putting up their lights now. We ate turkey today since i get to work tomorrow, have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your famiy

  24. Love that Fleece Navidad pillow … how cute! I’m all for leaving Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but I normally don’t get that luxury at home in Australia. We don’t really do Halloween, and Thanksgiving doesn’t rate a mention – so the Christmas cards and other holiday gear usually hits the shelves just after Father’s Day … which is in September!! Nothing like having 14-15 weeks of shopping pressure in the lead-up to Christmas πŸ˜‰

  25. HI Sheri, I hope that you and WH, CG and KD have a wonderful Thanksgiving. The best to all of the Loopy Elves also. I hope we as American’s really are very thankful for all we have. God bless you.

  26. Have a Happy turkey day!!! I turned the car radio today & they are playing Christmas music. I couldn’t believe it either. Let’s enjoy Thanksgiving!!!

  27. I am SO with you on the holiday music et al. It’s nice to be able to look forward to it, instead of having it leak into other holidays… BTW, I’ve been meaning to ask, where might one (should one be so foolish as to actually do this) find, oh say, a beginning drop spindle spinning book? And maybe a drop spindle and roving? Just an academic question, really…

  28. And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the Loopies! I shall be saving lives and curing people of overindulgence at the dinner table tomorrow…rather than eating turkey myself (so sad). But it’s a noble profession, right?

And I sooooooo agree with you about this hyped-up, piled-up holiday thing. Thanksgiving is just lost in the shuffle. Why don’t we all decorate our houses with corn stalks and horns of plenty for the month of November, instead of jumping right from the ghouls to the gifts????

I’m giving some serious thought to knitting something that isn’t a sock. Just got the yarn in the mail…………. ::)

  29. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your (extended) Loopy family, Sheri! I’m thankful I found you guys!

We have the same problem over here with Christmas decorations going up in the shops way too soon (of course they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving so there’s nothing to stop them—sometimes they go up before Halloween)!

  30. Wishing a happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours, Sheri! Have a wonderful and restful day with your family and have fun doing whatever you decide to do today!

I returned yesterday afternoon from a 3-day, 1000-mile driving trip back home to Lubbock, and I was amazed at how many people already had their outside Christmas decorations up and ON….and I thought we were early getting them up the weekend after Thanksgiving!

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

    Laurie

  31. Happy Thanksgiving! The pillow is adorable!

I like to watch Christmas movies and play Christmas music in July, but otherwise, I’m also in the “if we can’t wait until Advent, can we at least wait until after Thanksgiving?” camp.

  32. I Love your Feliz Navidad pillow! That is so cool! I used to do counted cross stitch and quilting and pillow making in another life. I love those buttons! Do you know if they are one of a kind, or something?

I am really happy to hear that you are going to start carrying darning eggs! I have been sort of looking around for darning eggs, but not very seriously.

I totally agree on the Christmas music. I have been boycotting our local oldies station since they started playing Christmas music around the clock, 24/7. I like to hear some of it starting after Thanksgiving, but not exclusively. My middle son is a special needs guy, and he has been hounding us to put the tree up since Halloween. But, my youngest son’s birthday is Nov 29. We have an unwritten rule that our tree does not go up until Dec 1, but certainly not until after Nov 29th!

Our town is super excited. Our high school team made it to the State Championship Playoffs game, which is tomorrow at 1:00 in Detroit. My son plays in our high school marching band, so he, my husband (chaperone), and my special needs son are going down for the game. I will be watching the game at home with my College Guy, on TV. Go Chemics! (I had to give them a little plug. Sorry.)

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, and especially you, Sheri, WH, WG, KD, and all of the Loopy Elves and Loopy pets!

  33. Sheri – are you a long lost mom of mine? My mother always drilled the “no christmas until after thanksgiving” mantra into my head. It’s nice to be able to celebrate one holiday at a time.

I can’t wait to see what kind of roving you carry. I’m hoping something superwash with a touch of mohair in it. Superwash/mohair is my favorite combo for hand spun sock yarn (and socks.) I usually have to blend it myself though. It’s a bit hard to find already blended.
