Well Holy Cow – I had no clue that we’d end up with over 1000 comments on our Happy Anniversary blog last week! You have no idea how fun it was to go through and read all of your wonderful comments and best wishes. I wish I could email each and every one of you to tell you how much we appreciate you. Due to the large number of entries, I decided to give away 10 drawings instead of 6. Remember, one prize goes to the person who guessed closest to the number of skeins we had here on August 1st. The other 9 have been randomly drawn. It was funny to see the wide variance in numbers guessed! We do send out a lot of skeins each week, but we also have a lot of skeins arriving each week as well. The total in-house at any given time goes up and down, but the number on August 1st (according to our website admin section – so no, I didn’t have to hand count each one) was 7977. Would you believe that someone actually guessed within 4 skeins? Greta from Oklahoma guessed 7981 and wins the big prize! (Next year I ought to have you guess total number of items we have in stock – yarn plus accessories plus patterns. Or maybe not. I don’t think I even want to know that number, as it might overwhelm even me.) The other nine prizes go to: Michele in Maine, Megan V, Shelby B, Jenifer C, Mo B, Sarah L, Lisa, Amy H, Kim and Margaret R. (Email me your addresses – sheri AT theloopyewe DOT com, just so I can make sure the prizes are going to the right place. I do have last names for Sarah, Amy and Margaret, so email me if you’re wondering if I mean YOU!) Thanks so much for participating in the contest, and more importantly thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement. This was Year One, and we do plan to be around for a long time to come. π
This week’s recipe is my favorite to make for “company”. It always gets rave reviews and it’s suprisingly easy to make. I hope you and your family enjoy it!
Melt in pan and then cool:
8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
1 cup sugar
1 cup unsalted butter
Add in:
1/2 cup brewed coffee
4 beaten eggs
Line a springform pan with foil and then butter the foil. Pour batter in and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes (or until crust forms.) Cool to room temperature and then refrigerate overnight.
Topping:
Whip 8 oz. whipping cream, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, and 1/4 tsp. vanilla until stiff peaks form. Pile whipped cream on top of cake and garnish with raspberries or strawberries. Serves 10. (Keep refrigerated. Can also freeze the baked cake base and just add the whipped cream and fruit when you’re ready to serve it.)

Wow, congratulations to Greta with that great guess. This weekend, I’m relaxing and knitting. My husband spent a lot of time woodworking out in the garage and the kids were with him. That left me a lot of free time! I think that I’ll just take the whole weekend off and relax since my birthday is Monday. π
This weekend…well, I just drove in from Boulder Junction, WI, the temp was 65 at 7 a.m. When we hit St. Louis it was 100!! Blah…I would have stayed but I think my boss would have gone a bit Loopy π Happy to be back, well, kinda, but looking forward to helping with the next sneak up.
On Sunday, I am going to the Sonoma Glass Art and Bead Festival in Sonoma, CA since beading is another one of my addictions in addition to knitting. While there, my friend and I will stop by the Sonoma Yarn store to get our yarn fix. The weather here in Northern California has been wonderful – in the 70s and 80s. Unusually cool for us this time of year.
WOW – That is a lot of yarn!
Thank you for the recipe, I am so going to make this. Let’s see…. this weekend, I’m at Stiches Midwest. What fun and total sensory overload.
Stay cool….
Boy was I ever off in my guess! WOW! That’s a lot of yarn. As for the weekend, I sat at home and started knitting socks from my Fleece Artist Rainforest.
This weekend I knit up some Panda Cotton using the Magic Loop method for the first time. Verdict still out on what I think of Magic Loop. Panda Cotton however is very lovely worked up. Nice stitch definition, soft and with some glide due to the Bamboo content. Purty. My one complaint is that I hit two knotted joins in the yarn in the middle of my instep in pretty close proximity to each other. I hope there are no more and that was a flukey ball. Other than that, Panda Cotton is loverly. They will be footies for my mom btw.
Other than that staying in the AC myself this weekend. Got up to 110 here again. Yuk.
Congrats, Ladies! That’s so fun! Okay, so I was off by several thousand. π By the way, thanks for posting the wonderful recipe, Sheri. I SO will be making this recipe this week (after my super-fun “Celebrate Julia” cooking class at Sur La Table, I’ll be in true cooking form). π Thanks again for putting all of this fun, positive energy into your blog. It was fun to “celebrate” your blogiversary with everyone this way. π
We went camping about 40 min from our house. It was good to get away & knit.
We did hiking, shopping & checking out a new lake. The food always tastes better out in the wild!!1
Wow. I would be in fiber over-load. But boy would it feel good to be around all that yarn.
Will probably miss this weeks sneak-up ’cause we are leaving for Arizona the end of the week. I could not stand to know there was yarn waiting on my front porch while I was gone. Only good thing is we are taking the truck and I can knit while DD drives. Now I will have to see if I have enough of a stash to take something to knit. LOL
y’all have a great week.
Wow, that’s going on my must bake list!
Looks delish….just looking at all my yarn from last sneakup and chanting no I don’t need more. But I am a firm believer in getting what I want sometimes not just what I need….heehee
Thanks for the recipe, Sheri! I’ve been meaning to mention that I made it for my birthday (August 12th, so good timing on your part), and it was just delicious!
