Happy Monday to you! It’s freezing cold here in Fort Collins (and many other parts of the U.S., I know), so what better way to get warmed up than with yarn that has cashmere in it? We just added in more Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere for you. This is one of our favorites, whether knitting with a single skein, or mixing up several!
Need something fun and colorful to get you through the cold winter days?

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I had fun making this Love and Hearts Hat last year (I know, I need to work on my colorwork. But look at the adorable heart on top!) I knit this up in Spud and Chloe Sweater (Igloo, Tiny Dancer, Popsicle). You could also use Cascade 220 (8010 or 8505, 9477 or 9478, and 7802 or 7803), or 220 Superwash (817 or 871, 894 or 902, 809 or 908)
I’m on version five of this newsletter/blog post, going back and forth on what to say. The events that happened last week at The Capitol were horrifying – the hate groups, the racial discrimination, the destruction and the violence. I stayed up late just to watch our democracy get back in action, confirming the electoral votes, and staying true to their task, despite the day they had all had. That, in itself, was encouraging.
I know many of you come here to get away from the news and and we think that knitting and pretty yarn is a great way to do that. So – except for the few sentences above – we are keeping our newsletters and our social media focused on positives – kindness, encouragement, inspiration and creativity. I know we all need that, not just in times like last week, but every single day. We are not ignoring the things going on out there, and we are certainly not condoning any of it. We are choosing to focus on what we can do to be a bright light to those around us, and hoping that will help in some ways.
Today’s Monday Update includes:
Our January Dream in Color exclusive yarn is in, and it’s a good example of focusing on the positive. When I picked this out and named it several months ago, I was anticipating that 2021 would be a year we’d all be happy to get to. (And I know we are!) Just like our Color of Hope last July, I wanted this skein to be light and beautiful and inspiring. So for January, we are happy to share with you “Outlook-Bright!”, in celebration of better days ahead in 2021. We have this dyed up on Smooshy with Cashmere and City. If you’d like a free copy of the Sarabelle Cowl with your Dream in Color purchase, just leave us an order note. You can make that cowl with one skein of either weight – it’s versatile!
We’ve also re-stocked our Blue Sky and Spud and Chloe Bases in:
Thank you for being a bright spot in our world – we appreciate you!

P.S. Thanks for sharing your knitting plans with us for our blog contest! We’ve used the random generator and the winner of the $50 Loopy Ewe gift certificate is Deb Cech, who said she keeps a list by month because there are so many things she loves to knit! First up, the Dissent Socks for her daughter, Elorie for her, and an old fashioned Christmas stocking for a new baby. Sounds like a great plan, Deb! We’ve added your Loopy spending money to your account, and we hope it gives you a great start on your 2021 knitting plans!
Hi Everyone,Happy 2021 to you! We’re all looking forward to this new year, which we’ve already filled with lots of fun things to come! To start things off, we’ve re-stocked Malabrigo Rios and Rasta this week.
Our last Yarn Update included all of our Wollmeise Nobody is Perfect skeins. Remember, the Nobody is Perfect skeins might be a slightly different variation of the color, or have a knot. But all in all, it’s a GREAT deal on Wollmeise!
