Best Names of the Week: Cardunculus and Raised by Wolves

Every time we get orders in, I’m amazed at two things: 1) the beauty of the colors and 2) the creativity of the colorway names. It’s always fun! Check out what we have for you today:

Into the Whirled Resist Dyed Meridian Sock More beauties from Cris and James on their beautiful Meridian Sock base. The Resist Dyed method means you get fun speckles and pops of color all mixed up in the skein, which means a finished project full of beauty. Although the base is call Meridian Sock, it does also knit up beautifully into scarves, shawls, hats, and cowls, too.

Into the Whirled Pakokku Handpainted Re-stocks on some of your favorite colors, including Cardunculus, Snow Angels with an Ood and The Bird Girl.

Canon Hand Dyes William Merino Gradients This yarn comes all caked up and ready to knit. A few are re-stocks in the popular colors (like Swimsuit Season, Worn Turquoise, Importance of Being Ernest) and then we have plenty of new colors, too (like Raised by Wolves, Shark Week, Mrs. Pembrook Adopts a Hedgehog – which should also win a best-colorway-mention, and more.) It’s always fun to knit a gradient and watch the colors progress.

Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere I think Smooshy with Cashmere was one of the first bases we carried with Cashmere in it, and I like that is has 20% Cashmere instead of 10%, like many cashmere mix bases. It’s luscious and wonderful to knit with, and continues to be one of our favorites.

Hinza Totes We’ve re-stocked these fun totes, including the new Blue color that has come out. We sell the smaller size online, but if you are nearby and can shop with us in person, we also carry the larger size in-store. What I like about these Swedish-made totes is the open top (easy to file things inside and then find them quickly), the fact that needles and supplies don’t poke through the material, and the bright, happy colors that they come in. The Hinza totes were originally made in the 1950’s and soon became a favorite in Swedish households. Since 2008, they have been produce by the great-granddaughter of the founder of the original company. Great for projects, bicycle baskets, shopping totes, office totes, organizers, and more.

Our last Yarn Update included: New indie dyer Savvy Skeins, Juliespins Half Pints, and Canon Hand Dyes Mini Skein Kits. We also did a mini update that included re-stocks in Black Water Abbey Worsted Weight, knitting notions, and Cascade re-stocks.

Sheri and The Loopy Ewe Crew

The Portland Post Office ATE our September Blue Moon exclusive colorway. Seriously.

Should’ve been here last week and they have no idea what happened to the shipment. We are having it re-dyed. It is GORGEOUS and we will let you know just as soon as the replacement batch gets here! To tide you over, we do have Blue Moon’s Total Eclipse of the Sun on Socks that Rock Lightweight and the Total Eclipse of the Sun Gradient Set in stock. I am in love with the color!
