Happy Eclipse Day! We had 95% coverage in our sky here and it still managed to stay so light out. (I read that at 95% totality, it’s still 10,000 times brighter than a full moon. The sun is amazing. It looked a little grayed over outside, but still bright. We closed the shop for a half hour so we could watch it all happen, and met the dentist, the chiropractor, and about 20 other people who work in the shops near us, out on the sidewalk. An impromptu viewing party. How about you? Did you get a sunny day and see it?
We are still celebrating our Anniversary Month (11 years – yay Loopy!) and today we have more ways to thank YOU for our shop and the past eleven years of color and fun.
1. All bags (everything at this link) and all patterns (knitting, quilting, sewing, wool appliqué) are 20% off between today (8/21) and next Sunday (8/27). We will apply the discount when your order comes through to us.
2. We have a new anniversary pattern for you! Designed by Debbie O’Neill, this beautiful shawl uses one full skein of Wollmeise and two half skeins of Wollmeise. We have pre-wound and kitted our favorite color combinations for you, and those are available while supplies last. We will email you the pattern the day after you order. It comes with the kits, but we are also offering a free copy with any order this week, if you leave us an order note and tell us you’d like a copy (whether you are buying the kit or not). Next week, they’ll go up on our regular pattern page for sale.
We also did a blog contest for a free spot at our Loopy Fall Fling for one person and a friend, to celebrate our anniversary. And actually, all of the comments were so nice that we went ahead and drew for TWO free spots instead of one! So congratulations to Ellen H in Colorado and Julie G in Minnesota. Both have free spots at our Fall Fling for themselves and a friend of their choice. We can’t wait to have you four (and everyone else) here in October. (Email us if you still want a spot, as we can still work you in. It’s going to be FUN!)
We told you at the beginning of the summer that we have a lot of new indie dyer lines arriving this fall, and they have started coming in! We had a new one two weeks ago (Round Mountain Fibers), a new indie artisan last week (Pawley Studios), and we have a new one for you this week, too, all the way from Ireland. (Five more new dyers are working on orders for us this summer for fall arrival, with more in the pipeline. We love our indie dyers.)
Added in today’s update:
Townhouse Yarns – This is a beautiful yarn that I ran across when I visited Dublin, Ireland this past winter. (It was a good trip. I was visiting Web Guy who was working there for three months, but I also visited two delightful knitting shops with friendly owners – This is Knit and The Constant Knitter. In addition, I found those awesome Pompons for us, and then discovered Jenny’s beautiful dying!) Jenny’s family owns This is Knit and it is housed in a beautiful old building called Powerscourt Centre, which is featured on the labels of her yarn. I am sure you will fall in love with her dyeing, like I have. This Graffton 4-Ply base is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon with 437 yards to the skein.
The Uncommon Thread – Another one of our favorite indie dyers from overseas. This yarn comes from Ce in Brighton, England, who has been dyeing yarn since 2010. She loves color, texture, and luxury yarns, and you can tell all of that when you pick up one of her gorgeous skeins. We have re-stocked Lush Worsted, Everyday Singles, Merino DK and Posh Fingering.
New Loopy Littles – We love little skeins and our Loopy Cakes have been so popular, so we decided to spread the cake-love to a few of our other cool lines. We have put together sets with 8 different colors in Wollmeise Pure, Shalimar Enzo Sport, Uncommon Thread Everyday Singles, and Knerd String. Fun for colorwork, a Linen Stitch cowl or scarf, coordinating heels and toes or hemlines, and so much more. It’s like collecting new paint colors (or new crayons – hello new school year!).
Needle Keepers – We’ve re-stocked the Needle Keepers, which has quickly become our favorite way to insure that works-in-progress on circular needles don’t jump off while in our project bags. Simply pop the two circular needles in the two ends, and everything stays put until you are ready to knit again.
Our last Yarn Update included: Blue Moon Socks that Rock Heavyweight, Dream in Color Jilly Lace with Cashmere, Dream in Color’s August Pop Up Skein Club, Malabrigo (Sock, Caracol, Mechita and Rios), and Pawley Studios Mugs. (Are you local to us? We have Pawley Studios Yarn Bowls for sale here at the shop, too!)
Thanks for reading through this long post today! Too many fun new things to share with you. 🙂
