Stripes, Colors, Warm Yarn, and More!

Is it just me, or does it NOT seem like December? The weather is too warm, there is no snow on the ground, and I started a new project this past weekend that involves an adult-sized vest with numerous cables that I am delusionally thinking might be done by Christmas. If it SEEMED more like Christmas was around the corner, I would not have done that. (Also? The Blue Moon December Exclusive sample skein arrived today, and now I need to knit that. Because it’s beautiful. So the vest might be for next Christmas….) And you? Are you feeling ready for the holidays and are you all put together? Send some of that our way, please.  In the meantime, we did add new things to the website. Just up:

Juliespins Silky 435 – Still need a beautiful yarn to knit something for gifting? (Hey – if I can do it, you can do it. It’s not too late!) This blend is 50% Silk and 50% Superwash Merino with 435 yards to the skein in Julie’s amazing colors. I made an Ishbel Shawl with a skein and didn’t want it to end. We rotate orders through the different blends that we get from Julie, so if you are tempted, get it while we have it! Pattern ideas: Starshower, Sunwalker, Powdersnow, Pretty Basic, and Multnomah.

Fibernymph Dye Works Self-Striping
– I always love the colors that Lisa comes up with, and this batch is no exception. This is our last batch from Fibernymph for awhile (hopefully not forever!). Lisa got married this fall and is setting up a new household and hoping to get a new dye studio going so she can dye for us again (probably a year from now). Until then, we have this one last batch of her self-striping yarn. Pattern Ideas: Badland Mitts, ZickZack Scarf, Blueberry Waffle Socks, Jaywalker, and Frankenfingers.

Into the Whirled Pakokku Kettle Dyed
– And another one of my favorite indie dyers for you today. (That makes three for three in today’s update!) Cris and James have sent us a new batch of their Pakokku Kettle Dyed in some of the colors that have been sold out. They are fun for socks, but also knit up beautifully for shawls, cowls and scarves. Pattern ideas: Reyna, High Tide, Vneck Boxy, Tacit, and Hollows.

Blue Sky Fibers Bulky
– I know I said it has been warm here for the season (47 degrees today), but Wednesday’s low is going to be minus four. And I will be glad to have some very warm knitwear for that day. Both Bulky and Extra (see below) are warm! The warmth in Bulky comes from the base (50% Alpaca, 50% Wool) and well as the weight. Quick to knit and luscious to wear. We have all of the colors in stock for you. Pattern ideas: Marian, Frosty Cowl, Really Warm Hat, Chunky Cowl, and Gaptastic Cowl.

Blue Sky Fibers Extra
– This base is a little lighter than Bulky, as it is an Aran weight. 55% Baby Alpaca and 45% Fine Merino, so it has been milled to be delightful to the touch. I made an oversized Grus Cowl with it and it is my go-to cowl when it’s really really cold out. (Like this Wednesday.) We have all of the colors in stock for you. Pattern ideas: Two Harbors Poncho, Cane Bay Wrap, Tokyo Tower Bandana, One Cable Mitts, and Garter Ear Flap Hat.

  1. We got a few inches of snow today, here in New Hampshire (and maybe a bit more on Wednesday) so it’s feeling more like the Christmas season.

And to make it even better, I got my order today. I am so pleased – the very lovely Fresh From the Cauldron, Pig-in-a-Poke. You really carry some gorgeous yarns!!
