July Monthly Mixer!

Loopy Monthly MixerHow can it be July already?? Half of the year is gone. Are you feeling good about how many projects you’ve knit and/or sewn this year so far? Today’s Mixer Challenge may add one more to your finished list! Here is what we’re doing in July:

Yarn Monthly Mixer: Knit something out of cotton yarn (or a cotton mix). Last night, our Knit Night friend Ann brought a beautiful cowl that she had knit out of Cascade Ultra Pima. I decided to put my project away and cast on the same pattern she had used (but am doing mine out of a wool that I am testing for the shop.) The pattern is cute! Called A Noble Cowl. And it does call for a cotton yarn. Here are some pattern and yarn ideas for you:

Yarn: Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme, Supreme BatikUniversal Bamboo Pop, Cascade Fixation, Blue Sky Alpacas Skinny Cotton, and Worsted Cotton, Spud and Chloe Sweater, and Outer, Cascade Ultra Pima, and Ultra Pima Paints, and Manos del Uruguay Serena.

A few pattern ideas: A Noble Cowl, Chevron Baby Blanket, Dangling Conversation, The Almost Lost Washcloth, Liesl, Summer of ’16, Feather and Fan Ribbed Tee, and Ballband Dishcloth.

Fabric Monthly Mixer: We’re going to the opposite extreme with the Fabric challenge and having you make something out of flannel or wool this month! PJ Pants, comfy throw quilt, pincushion – anything you’d like!

Fabric: Riley Blake, Robert Kaufman Plaids, Robert Kaufman Shetlands, Penny Rose Wool, Moda Wool, and Mary Flanagan Woolens.

A few pattern ideas: Wool Patterns, Gathering Hearts, Love One Another, Silent Night, Old Crow, and here is a YouTube video on making Pajama Pants!

We are closed on Monday for the July Fourth holiday, but we will have a great Monday Update for you on Monday afternoon, so watch for that!
