Loopy at the Races

Loopy had the chance to attend the Kentucky Derby, and of course he was all over that. Although he’s a bit scared of horses, he likes all of the celebration and hoopla that surrounds the Derby. Loopy Groupie Dana from MO let him ride along in her hat box. Besides getting to hang out with Dana, he also had a chance to meet Bob Costas:

Loopy and Bob

And then got to celebrate the winning ticket with a little bit of liquid refreshment.

Loopy Wins at the Derby!

All in all, a very good weekend for Loopy. Is anyone else taking Loopy on vacation anywhere soon? He’s ready to get on the road again and he travels light (given the fact that he wears the same t-shirt 24/7….)

  1. Hi Sheri! I’m thinking Loopy needs to accompany me on my trip to Europe next month. We will be visiting London, Amsterdam, and Paris. Think he’s up to some croissant and coffee while visiting the Rodin museum with me?

  2. Loopy wanted to take an American history vacation. Loopy will be coming along with me and my husband when we travel to Gettysburg and Philadelphia in June. On his list are the battlefields and Jenny Wade House, the Betsy Ross House and the Liberty Bell, and Andrew Wyeth studio tour in Chadds Ford, PA. Loopy wonders if he’ll be seeing any other sheep as we travel through Amish country (Lancaster, PA) on the way back home.

  3. You were in my home state! I live in Lexington, about an hour and ten minutes away. Hope you enjoyed your time in Kentucky – it’s absolutely beautiful in the spring! Just too bad it was so rainy that day!

  4. Kim – Loopy loves croissants. Please buy him the chocolate kind.

Linda – Loopy will want to sit on a cannon, so watch him carefully …

  5. Hi Rachel! That was Dana from MO that was in your home state, but I’m sure she had a great time there!

  6. No exciting vacays planned but Loopy needs to visit our Nation’s Capital, ck out the monuments, the sights and perhaps stop at the White House to ask the prez to declare knitting our national sport!

  7. Kathy – if you get a picture with Loopy and the President, I will send you a big prize! πŸ™‚

  8. No big vacation plans, just a few beach trips. However, I will be bringing Loopy with me to a few big swim meets this summer! I’ll have to see if Ryan Lochte or Missy Franklin would be willing to teach Loopy how to swim

  9. Lori – Loopy would enjoy hanging with either of those swimmers, as long as they don’t toss him in the pool. He can’t swim. πŸ™

  10. No big trips planned. Loopy will be attending Camp Loopy up in the Great North woods with me this summer. I have to wonder what kind of trouble that Rascal Loopy will manage to get into while he’s here. As long as he doesn’t chase the geese — they are MEAN and nasty —he should be safe.

  11. Sheri, DH and I will be taking Loopy to southern Virginia to visit my Mom and Dad at the end of May. Nothing fancy, but he’ll meet my Virginia knitting group.

  12. Carol Lee – Loopy loves knitting groups. I know he’ll enjoy that!

Cheryl – Maybe you could let Loopy climb a tree in the woods?

  13. Loopy hung out with me during a deployment, but his location was classified. : P He liked hanging out on the helicopters though, and firing the .50cal was his cup of tea.

  14. Yep – he wouldn’t tell me a single detail, Alison. He’s good at classified information.

  15. No side trips today but Loopy will be attending my son’s final Awards Concert tonight. High School Seniors just have to have finals of everything this time of year including the test kind.

  16. I think Loopy might need to go to Mount Rushmore with us in June. He’d probably like it in South Dakota!

  17. Loopy will be accompanying me to St. John US Virgin Islands in December where he will attend my wedding on Hawksnest Beach. I better make sure he packs his sunscreen πŸ™‚

  18. Sheri, I’ll do my best. I should probably knit him a safety rope!

Catherine H. – I hope you have a wonderful wedding! St. John is one of my favorite places in the world, my family and I used to go there often. Getting married on Hawksnest Beach sounds like a dream come true!

  19. Sheri, I love it. I’ve always wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby and I am so happy that Loopy made it.

  20. Hmmm – I think Loopy will have to go with the family to Petra, Jordan this summer. He needs to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Oooohhh – I can also take him to another location that can’t be named (like Alison on her deployment).

  21. So sad that I didn’t have Loopy with me when I was on retreat with Cat Bordi! I know he would have loved San Juan Island. We might have seen orca’s if he had been with us. I guess he needs to jump into my cart!

  22. Loopy will be going to Italy-Venice, Florence,Rome-when the choir I sing in tous the end of June. Maybe he can sit in my husband’s pocket in St. Peter’s Basilica when we sing for the mass.
