I thought I was done with scarves.

DSC01020.JPGBeen there, done that, loving socks. Or so I thought. Well, the “loving socks” part is still true. But after wrapping up yet another gorgeous Fiesta Boomerang color combination for Shannon, who is turning them into Chevron scarves, I googled and learned. After seeing just a few samples, I went straight to the bookstore to get Last Minute Knitted Gifts and the pattern. DSC01021.JPGI picked two colors of Boomerang (Madrid and Plum Pudding), wound them up, and off I went. I am having such a fun time knitting this scarf and I love how it’s turning out. In fact, I have several more color combinations in mind, so I may be doing more than this one. Knitting Daughter started her own Chevron Scarf with two of the new colors of All Things Heather that will be up in next week’s Sneak Up. She’s having fun with it, too! Is anyone else out there working on one of these scarves? My Interlacement Tiny Toes socks have been set aside temporarily.

It looks like the final list for this week’s Sneak Up will include: Skinny Duets, Woolly Boully Softie (including a new custom color for us!), Fleece Artist Somoko, Lime & Violet Sasquatch Sock, and our J.Knits Anniversary yarn, plus the Ham’s Jams knitting bags. As always, more currently in-house and waiting to be photo-ed for the Sneak Up after this one……

We have another free pattern for you! Wonderfully Generous Wendy has given us another one of her patterns to share as a free download over in the “Free Patterns” section on the right side of this blog. (She is having way too much fun designing socks this summer.) This one is called “Cabletini Toe Up Socks” and it’s a very pretty pattern, knit with 2 skeins of Nature’s Palette. I love cables, and this new pattern is going directly into my “knit soon” pile.

DSC01019.JPGSusan-the-awesome-assistant is back from her second vacation in three weeks. I might have to forgive her for doing that to me because she brought me this cute little sheep decoration. πŸ™‚ Speaking of vacations, Loopy has had some fun ones. Have you checked into his photo gallery lately? There are over 100 photos in there. And did you know that we currently have 284 sock photos in our Socks on Trees photo gallery? If you want to know how a particular yarn line knits up, check out the photo gallery. Chances are we have it somewhere in there to inspire you!

  1. Blueberry White Iced Tea? Hmm. Sounds interesting!

Those chevron scarves are everywhere! I really like your color combo. Very springy.

  2. That scarf is fabulous! And I love the sheep Susan brought you. So cute!

It’s 99 here right now. Maybe I need some Blueberry Iced Tea!

  3. Your chevron scarf is fabulous! Love the color combo you picked out. I have been thinking about making one for some time, as I’ve also seen quite a few out there – just need to pick some of my own color combos soon!

Personally, I keep drooling over the Blueberry Frap that Starbucks is now offering – I certainly don’t need the calories, but it looks delicious!!

  4. must…not…start…new…project…4 socks on needles, plus one single sock that needs a mate, starting a lace shawl class tomorrow, and have an Icarus shawl on the needles.

  5. yum……Starbucks. This week’s sneak up sounds like a great one. I have 8 socks on needles right now and every single one is out of something I purchased at The Loopy Ewe It might time for a second sock intervention.

  6. oooh that chevron is beautiful!!
I just cast mine off last night.
waiting to block it before I take some pics (I started of knitting awfully tight- so it curled).

…and I am patiently waiting to see those ham’s jams pop up at TLE. πŸ™‚

  7. YUMMY scarf! Please do not add another project to my list. I’m trying to be good. Really. I know I know I know that I lie to myself but it is a slice of reality I don’t want to look upon right now!

    Stay cool—–

  8. I got my Nature’s Palette order today. I love the yarn and hope you continue to carry it. Thanks to Wendy for the new pattern!

  9. Gorgeous scarf! I’ve been eyeing those for a while and can’t decide what colors to use to make it. I’m thinking they would make lovely Christmas gifts!

Blueberry Iced Tea?!? Yum!!!! I made Dewy Cherry Iced Tea last night at home….it was tastey!

  10. That scarf is gorgeous! In fact, as much as I don’t like knitting scarves, every one of the chevron scarves I have seen is so lovely. My resolve is wearing thin.

  11. One of the nicest Chevron scarves I’ve seen (other than this one, ’cause you know I love that Fiesta) was posted on the Cider Moon Blog, and it was a combo of June Carter and Johnny Cash in Glacier, and it was truly stunning. I’ve never knit a chevron scarf – but would love to look for a pattern. Does anyone know of a freebie pattern out there?
P.S. I’m sorry to say, but I didn’t like the White Blueberry Iced Tea – I still prefer my Caramel drinks (more high calorie, I’m sure), and regular southern sweet tea. πŸ™‚ Also high calorie. UGH! I think the word “calorie” should be banned.

  12. I love your scarf. I’ll have to add that pattern to my list that I want to knit.

Many thanks to Wendy for her Cabletini Toe-Up Sock pattern! That is definitely on my must knit list!

  13. Oh, that scarf is looking great!! I think I may need to come down again and pick out some yarn for a couple of those!! (Did you do this on purpose???) I took a sock-detour as well and am kntting M&M dishcloths. Too fun. Back to socks tomorrow….. Also just got home from Starbucks. Got my iced latte but should have tried the White Blueberry tea… Is it good??

  14. Ah, poor Loopy. He was with us when we met Jeffry Combs (of ReAnimator), Daniel Myrick (director of Blair Witch Project), Michael Nelson (of MST3K), and Neil Marhsall (director of The Descent)… but, sadly, our press schedule did not allow for his picture to be taken. Poor Loopy! However, I can assure you, his geek fortitude has been tested ad he has passed muster as a True Geek.

I really like the Cabletini pattern. Must find a way to make it top-down.

  15. Oh, your Chevron scarf is beautiful… I like Mary’s colorways too. Now I too want to make one. I have 3 pair of socks on needles now and a lace shawl. Thanks to Wendy for the Cabletini pattern! Can’t wait for the sneak up…as it looks like I now need yarn for a scarf. πŸ™‚ Kristi

  16. Please, oh please, do tell the colorways and label of the yarns you are using for the chevron scarf. I have the book, so I have the pattern… I just cannot pick my colors.. and I think I’m in love…

    Michelle

  17. Why must you show new WIPs?? Now I have to make a scarf, LOL. I have picked out two colors but have to check my stash first……Lordy , the power you have over my knitting mind….

  18. Sooooooo pretty, I love it! Delicious scarfyness. Are you getting some duet in again soon? That would be nice…… Hmm….

  19. Wow Sheri, I knew you couldn’t resist. It is a fun and quick pattern. I received my new Fiesta Boomerang in the mail today, and I already have a few inches knit. I love the new combo.

Your scarf is coming along nicely. The combo you picked is so unique!

  20. I love your scarf, Sheri. I had bought 2 colours of STR several months ago to make a Chevron scarf, but before I started I realized that one of the colours was perfect for my daughter because it had the same name and colours as her pet Budgie, so of course I had to make socks for her with it instead. Now I have to find a new combination because I really need (yes I really do!) a scarf for my fall jacket. Your scarf is definitely inspiring, as are the cool nights and mornings we are having lately.

  21. Love the chevron scarf! Adding it to my start one list. I’m going to try a new sock and I think Wendy’s Cabeletini Toe-Up sock would be great. What is a sneak-up?

  22. Your scarf is beautiful. I’m going to use Fleece Artist Sea Wool in the Renaissance and Vintage colorways for mine. The yarn is wound in pretty cakes and just waiting for me to finish jury duty – can’t bring my knitting needles.

  23. I love seeing Chevron scarves–colorways you would never think to put together go well in those scarves.

Was the colorway of Claudia’s named “Sharks” referring to the “yarn sharks?” Even if not, I think it’s funny. =)

  24. I haven’t started my Chevron scarf yet but have it all set to go for my next project. I hope I enjoy it as much as you are! πŸ™‚

  25. Chevron scarf is beautiful! Maybe I’ll do one this year (after last year’s large shawl, plus my 9 holiday gift mohair scarves, I’m ready for a new one!). The pattern is in the Last Minute Knitted Gifts book, hunh?

Almost done with my stripe socks (and the gosh-darned green socks too!). Was going to have a winding festival today, but overslept after a string of night shifts, so it will have to wait till tomorrow I guess.

Thanks Wendy, for another great toe-up masterpiece!

Can’t wait to see the L&V yarn!

  26. I think I may have to knit one or two of those scarves. I see them popping up on all the blogs. Yours is beautiful. And I think I am going to have to check out this tea at Starbucks… I hope ours has it and it is sugar free.

  27. Great color combination, Sheri! Just what I need, another project…I’ve got only 3 socks in progress plus a baby blanket, so obviously there is plenty of room for more! I’ve made other projects from that book and they’ve all turned out well.

Many thanks to Wendy for sharing another one of her fabulous patterns!

My vacation knitting is going to be dishcloths, though. Cheap. Portable. Cotton.

  28. Woohoo, I didn’ work last night so went to bed “like a normal person” around 10p and go up at 6a(I feel like a slug) Checked and there it was the SNEAKUP!!! Yippee, Duet sock yarn galore…..I also got the Anniversry yarn, some of my favorite fall colors!! I never would have thought I could get sleep and sneakup yarn, LOL….Off to get last minute gifts book today……

  29. Great Chevron! Mine is in one of the free pattern modified versions that’s more angularand jaywalker-esque, and it’s in Claudia’s Carrousel & Cotton Candy that I ordered from you πŸ™‚ It’ll be my amusement park scarf once I finish it.

  30. Your Chevron Scarf is so pretty! It is an addictive pattern, isn’t it? I am currently making one and I continue to visualize and see more color combos whenever I see sock yarn! This project is my to go knitting/KIP project, and it is growing steadily. I’ve worked on it at a couple of summer concerts, but had to put it down when seeing Order of the Phoenix – the pattern row can be challenging for me when doing it by touch…in the dark…while watching an action-packed movie.

YAY!!!!! I was up late enough last night/early in the AM to take advantage of the Sneak Up!! Can’t wait to see and pet the Anniversary colorway!!!!!

  31. I love the colors you picked for your scarf! After seeing these everywhere, I have been coming up with a bunch of color combos I want to try. This is one of my favorites byfar πŸ™‚

  32. I love the colors you chose for your scarf! After seeing these everywhere, I have been coming up with color combos for my own Chevron Scarf. Yours is my favorite so far πŸ™‚
