I’ve had a great time reading all of your knitting tips! I’m pulling out some of my pretty crystal vases and using them for needles. (And I loved the tip about using your first spinning bits for the bottom of it. Except that I’m avoiding spinning for as long as possible. I’m afraid that I will love it and there is no time in the day for it now.) I like that the tips ranged from actual technique tips, to organizing tips, to …. well, pretty much all over the board. Keep adding to them. And I would love for some of you to take photos of your storage/organizing systems for our “Knitting Nooks & Storage Ideas” gallery. That would be fun. Several of you commented on the fact that you write everything down in a notebook. That’s exactly where the idea for Loopy’s Knit Notes for Socks came from. I was writing things down and just wanted a nicer little book with fill-in-the-blanks on part of the page so that I wasn’t re-writing the same things over and over. Of course there is plenty of space that is blank as well, for adding any other details. Thank you for all of your great tips – I knew you’d rise to the challenge!
Today’s topic – Search Engines. I was perusing the list of things that people had typed into Search Engines (like G**gle) that brought them to The Loopy Ewe. It shows what the word or phrase was, and how many people, using that phrase, have then clicked on The Loopy Ewe and come for a visit to the website. So – there is something on the website or in the blog that makes the search engine think that THIS is a viable option for what they are looking for. Here are just a few that I jotted down. Some are understandable, and some just left me scratching my head:
– “how to put perm rods in your husband’s hair”
– “loopy people photos”
– “How much is too much front loading washing machines”
– “How many shots in a venti Starbucks”
– “Ugly foot contest”
– “Grey wool birkenstock clog”
– “Chocolate covered strawberies longevity”
– “Purchase 12 silver bed and bathroom door knobs”
– “What pan size do you use for St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake”
– “Vera Bradley recipes corn salad”
– “martha frank”
– “life with loopy”
– “college fun movie”
– “for what did they eat colonial peanut butter fudge”
Search Engines are handy, but they’re also a bit weird, aren’t they? Just makes you wonder. (And if any of the above have meanings that I don’t know, then I don’t want to know. Ok?)
In Loopy News – more yarn is expected this week and next (and we’ll put them up when we get them photo-ed). Yes, I have one more Sweet Georgia order coming in, but it’s small. About 1/3 the size of our regular Sweet Georgia orders. (The size and colors were up to Felicia this time, so I have no idea what colors we’re getting.) I don’t anticipate putting that up until the first or second week in March – it hasn’t arrived yet. I do have some fun accessories coming in that you’ll like, and I have two more indie-dyers that I made plans with this week, who will show up later in the spring. More Scarlet Fleece shipped yesterday, and more Apple Laine is on the way as well. We’re always watching out for you and your knitting needs!

( : i love where zoe finds her warmth. aren’t cats too funny and just the best?? i know i could wait til you get more yarn in but, i’m so feeling the need to shop today. ready to do what i call “fancy socks” and need some yarn that is more of a solid. thinking i really need your note book too since you have done all the ‘work’ part for us. i have all kinds of notes for everyones socks i’ve done so far. definitely need that organized. happy knitting this sunny day. at least it is here. ididn’tforgetyoulikethecloudyones. I found you through Wendy’s Blog. I stopped knitting in the early 2000’s because I gave birth to twin boys. I was too tired to knit or do anything else. Recently my mom told me how wonderful quilting was and that she was taking all these classes and started a quilt guild where she lives. Not wanting to be in my mother’s shadow. ;0) I took up knitting again with a vengence. In three weeks I finished a pair of socks and a tank top from recovered yarn from a project before 2000. The socks were great and I had to knit more and so I poked around and I clicked off of Wendy’s blog after she did a minor commercial for you and I loved your site and speedy service. Good photos of yarn too.

I like the first one the best too of the search engines: “putting perm rods in your husband’s hair”….wonder how the heck that got them to your site….maybe the loops of a perm?! LOL
Search engines really are bizarre, aren’t they? I’m still amazed that there is no single question about anything that cannot be answered on the internet. That’s how I learned how to unclog my toilet and how to self-diagnose several medical conditions, without having to consult either a plumber or a doctor. Isn’t the internet wonderful? Seriously, I never would have found the Loopy Ewe and discovered your beautiful yarns and even more beautiful personality, Sheri, without having been searching online for some sock pattern or yarn or another. It’s such a rush when you randomly discover something that brings a whole new dimension to your knitting. Like Monday, I went to your site as always, and discovered two brand spanking new colors of Yarn Pirate–Apple and Dogwood. I knew from past experience (totally missing the boat on the Loopy Sock Club) that I’d better act fast or they would be gone within hours if not minutes. So I snagged both even though I have already way overspent my yarn budget for this month. I just love what joy you bring to my sock knitting.
Ooh, more Apple Laine. I just started knitting my “Blueberry” up and it is wonderful stuff! (Of course, I haven’t quite found a sock yarn that I didn’t like yet. I’m sure there is one, but I haven’t found it.)
I guess we should all stop commenting about trying to perm our husbands’ hair.
And the answer to #4 — Not enough.
I didn’t find you through Google; I found you through Wendy and Miriam. But I have found a lot of wonderful stuff through those search engines. Need to know how to pick up double wraps in a short row heel? Need to look for yarn reviews? What’s a turkish cast on and is it easier than that blasted Figure 8? It truly is a wonder to be able to type in any phrase and in less than 5 seconds have the answer you’re looking for.
AHAHA!! One of those is MINE! (The search for “how many shots in a venti starbucks”…..I was reading your post about something Starbucks related, and I thought I could swear a venti had three shots, not two – or two shots, not three…I can’t remember now and it seems terribly unimportant, so why on earth I was doing this in the first place escapes me – and so I started searching for it, and then just ended up back here when I couldn’t seem to settle on anything.)

lol….isn’t the internet a strange place at times. OK, I have to admit that this one has me giggling and scratching my head: “how to put perm rods in your husband’s hair”. My hubby shaves his head since he’s already half bald but I still couldn’t imagine him letting me put perm rods in his hair even when he still had hair long enough to do it. He claims it saves him money on the hair cuts. Although when I was a kid I use to brush my grandpa’s hair and put barrettes in it. It was a favorite for all us grandkids. We have tons of pictures of a 6 ft, gruff, white hair man with about 30+ barrettes and clips of every shape and color in his hair.
I found you by doing a g**gle search but it took me awhile to come back and buy something. I”m glad I came back out here to your site. 🙂

Here’s my nomination for strangest search engine phrase (and why they got directed to the site from it, I have no idea, but here goes):
“ducks with syphilis in California”
??!! I didn’t even know there was such a thing! I was in the fetal position for about 2 hours after I read that.
I think we need a picture of Zoe in front of the computer. And she is trying to get you to pay attention to you. I will try and get you a photo of my living storage solution for my sock stash.
My ex-boyfriend’s cat used to sit on top of the monitor and hang his head off the front, watching the screen. And my cat just lays under my desk light, soaking up the meager warmth. It’s got a compact fluorescent bulb in it, so she’s not getting much, poor thing.
It always amazes me too what pops up when you use a search engine. I always feel I have to sit with my kids if they g**gle anything, who knows what they may click on.
“Life with Loopy” was a cartoon on nickleodeon’s “Kablam!” this boiy was always talking about his little sister’s adventures. that was an okay one to tell you about!
