I finished up another Age of Brass and Steam project. I did my first one awhile back, and have been wanting to do another once ever since then. It’s a very quick and easy knit, so there is still plenty of time to whip a couple out for gift-giving!
The pattern calls for 230-240 yards of DK yarn. I bought a skein of Fiberstory Core DK in Koi when we got it in and was dying to cast on something. (I LOVE her colors. All of them.) It had to be a quick something, as I still have a few other projects to finish up before the end of the year. This pattern was perfect for it.
Then, because I was loving the color so much and wanted this to be more shawl/scarf like instead of kerchief like, I got another skein and made it longer. (I did an extra stockinette set and then a couple of stockinette sections between the last Garter/Eyelet section and the Final Section in Garter Stitch.)
We’re out of the color Koi, but there are other really pretty options available. You could also make this pattern out of Shalimar Breathless DK, Fable Fibers Biography, Fibre Company’s Road to China Light, and Mrs. Crosby’s Hat Box.
Back to Fiberstory – we also carry Sarah’s fingering weight yarn called Fave, and she has designed this Sweetly Cowl as a free pattern with purchase of one skein of Fave. Just leave us an order note if you’d like it. During one recent Knit Night, I think we had four different people working on their Fiberstory Sweetly Cowls!
