It’s morning. Already. It’s gonna take a
tall grande cup o’ joe peppermint mocha to get me going this morning. It might be because I was up until after 2 am, watching “24” with College Boy. When will I remember that college kids can keep those hours, but I can’t? At least not while Knitting Daughter is still home and leaving for school bright and early. (So of course I’m up to pack her lunch and see her off. Bleary-eyed, but UP, nevertheless.) Someone needs to knock some sense into me. Quickly.
We’re leaving to go out of town on Saturday morning. Early. 6 am flight. (Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Might as well just not go to bed that night?) I haven’t packed a thing. Truly, I’m much more concerned about what knitting projects I’m taking and making sure I have everything for that, than the actual clothes and other necessities I might need. Or is that just because I’m tired and not thinking clearly? No doubt I will once again severely over-estimate the amount of knitting I will complete, and will take twice as many projects as I need to see me through the week. (Kind of like I delude myself into thinking I can stay up until 2 am over and over, and still function?) I’m also in the process of downloading knitting podcasts, as I haven’t had a second to listen to any of those for over a month. It ought to be a nice vacation. 🙂
Yesterday was another marathon field trip day for The Loopy Ewe. We had three different sets of knitters in to enhance their personal sock yarn buffets. I should’ve taken pictures. They were all a lot of fun to have here, and they all went away happy (but also wondering how I can possibly live with all of this wonderful yarn, all the time. It’s a chore, let me tell you.) We have fun new stuff arriving while I’m gone, and into the first couple of weeks of January. Poor Wonder Husband will be kept really busy getting the photos taken. Such a good thing that “sock yarn doesn’t count” as I foresee the need to add more of these new yarns to my own sock yarn buffet. I’m thinking I will have severely deplenished my sock stash by the end of my trip and will NEED to add to it when I get back. I’m just wondering how to get all 70 skeins of sock yarn into my luggage so that I can knit them all up next week?

In regards to the ungodly hour you have to be at the airport for your flight… Get there the night before and sleep there! ; )
Merry Christmas Sheri and enjoy your much deserved vaca! I will miss your blog but look forward to the stories later. :>)
Speaking of being up late, I have a chronic, awful habit of not going to bed when I’m sleepy and spend half my nights contorted on the sofa with the TV and lights on. I totally relate to you feeling wrung out this morning. I have to start working at 7 am even when I’m on the couch till 5. Ack! Wear something cool… it helps keep you awake. A venti Starbucks is definitely called for today.
Use the luggage limit and put yarn in one bag. :>)
As a member of one of those three happy groups of shoppers, I have to tell you that it was great meeting you and seeing all your gorgeous yarns! I’ll be back soon for those size medium wooden sock blockers. I just don’t understand why late last night my poor husband just wasn’t as excited as I was to hear all about my adventures at the Loopy Ewe and to revel in all the fabulous yarn and patterns that I bought!
Have a great holiday and a great trip…and hope to show you some of my new socks soon!
I’m sorry that I didn’t post this yesterday! I am so excited and grateful to have won the latest Loopy Ewe contest! Sheri is very giving, and she’s made my Christmas much brighter!
Thank you, thank you!
I’m trying VERY HARD to feel sorry for you… staying up until 2:00; having to catch a 6 am flight; unable to decide what knitting projects to take on your CRUISE; having to go shopping again… etc.. but am having a hard time!!! Enjoy it all… even if you have to function on large doses of caffiene. You can always sleep next year!
I still can hardly wait for a visit to the loopy room!! 🙂
I love your blog and your store. I just placed my first order yesterday 🙂 I just wanted to tell you that I received a Christmas check from a relative today as a gift, and the first thing I thought was that I am going to end up using it for more sock yarn from YOU!! LOL!! 🙂
Hi Sherri,
Happy Holidays to you and your family! Have a safe and fun trip…and I sympathize….last year we drove to Florida on Christmas Day and I was soooooo concerned if I would have enough knitting for the trip – College Boy hates to fly so we drove to a Soccer Tournament in Disney……I know…poor me…
Anyways…enjoy the trip and the time with your family…I will have a sock yarn order in January…I had a party on Sunday and promised everyone that showed (9) that I would make them a pair of socks…..I was so lucky to have Loopy’s sock knitting book so they could register their choices….and all of them left me some really awesome notes…….
Diane
Pack the yarn in your shoes….saves space and keeps shoes nice and firm.
See you soon
